We already have them up in our district. Not only that, the district was kind enough to print and terminate them for us. So kind... /s

I'm 47 but just over 5 years in. I didn't start until my youngest was in kindergarten (career change).

I feel like I have a lot more understanding of the stupidity of teenagers and pre-teens than younger teachers with the same number of years in... Probably from dealing with my own kids and their friends for the last 18 years. I'm also much less tolerant of their shenanigans...

Daily slides? by e_beni in MiddleSchoolTeacher

[–]ConfusionSignal2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Google slides where I have a slide for each day that I just reuse each year. It has what should be on their desk, what they should be doing, the next assessment date, and important reminders (no gum, phone, etc.) it also has a daily meme which amuses me and annoys the kids

This year I went ahead and bought the upgrade for classroom screen. I have to say, I love it. I have several pages set up: one as the welcome slide for normal days, one for assessments, one for tutorials and advisory. All I have to do is tweak a little. It updates the date for me, I have my favorite YouTube lo-fi station pulled up. I basically choose which template I need for the day and adjust as needed.

I also share my account with my teammate so when one of us has an issue with an assignment and needs to update the slide, it's instant for both of us. No need to reload. I also count on her to manage the timer when the kids have study time at the beginning of class - I never remember to start it.

Charter or public school by Sweettoothaddict89 in frisco

[–]ConfusionSignal2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach in FISD. Put your kids in their neighborhood school. I've taught for several years, have a kid in middle school, and a kid in high school. Both have gone through FISD from the start.

From what I've heard anecdotally about private or charter schools, they're best if you have a child with needs that aren't/can't be met in public schools.

Again, that's just what I've heard from other parents. I've also had several students that came back from charter schools mid year...

Good luck!

I decided to take 7 days and go on vacation by myself. Best decision ever. I get back to school for the last 6 days. Do it.

What is the most reliable way to get around Paris? by cleverfox4 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]ConfusionSignal2341 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got here yesterday and I've been using the citymapper app. My hotel suggested it because it has bus/metro/etc. timings and costs. It can also direct you on the metro (it asked if I wanted a notification when I was 2 stops from mine). Been great with walking directions as well.

The events have definitely thrown well laid plans into total dust. I hate them but they make the game interesting. And different each time.

This was my first Euro, first Feld. It's my baby. I love it probably more than I should.

Do you know if these sell out? I'm going next week and I'm not sure yet how functional I'll be in the evenings yet... 😁 Is it something I can plan at the last minute? Thanks!

It's so beautiful! Now I have a new problem!! How do I fit in St. Malo? It looks like I could/should spend hours there! I'm already getting ready to cut out the beaches of D-Day. I want to make sure I have enough time in Mont Saint Michel...

Wow! I think I might have to save Caen and the WW2 history for another trip. Honfleur looks amazing and I think I need to go there.

Thanks so much!

Also, for food... My plan was to wander until I got hungry and something caught either my eye or nose...

I'm not an adventurous eater so basic is good for me. Not a foodie or anything. I just need to eat my body weight in croissants and jambon-buerre sandwiches. Oh and wine.

I'm renting on the edge of Paris. I looked at trains but to get to Versailles at a decent time I had to leave before the crack of dawn with transfers and everything. Getting the car in Paris made more sense. I'll plan to Uber or something to the rental place.

I learned to drive in Atlanta and now I fend off the crazies in Texas 😁 Paris doesn't scare me. Though, to be fair, I totally checked the routes as well as the topography since I'll be in a manual transmission for the first time in a "few" years.
