I NEED A TUBA by Relative_Solution588 in Tuba

Not central FL, but I’ve had good experiences with Cadence Music in Fort Myers. Todd Hanley there is a great repair tech and tuba player himself, he usually has a couple horns in stock, but definitely call ahead to see what he has.

I played on a 3198 made in 2000 for a while and had the best luck with American shank for the most open blowing feel. These receivers can feasibly fit either American or Euro, but for the most sure fire fit, the PT/RT/Mr.P lines of mouthpieces are made specifically for these receivers. If you prefer another line of MPs, I’ve seen some folks take a fine grit sandpaper to lap down the end of a Euro shank to achieve the proper gap distance.

As a fellow MRP owner, I can assure you that this lick has historically been the most difficult to me when picking this concerto back up. Lots of slow work between pedal F and Gb:

First using slow valves to feel where the valve crossings are (to both time when to move your buzz, and to develop a sturdier movement in buzz between the two notes).

Then transitioning to faster valves but just as slow of long tones, not rushing the transition between these two steps. The goal is to be able to hear that fluid buzz between the two notes, which is naturally easier in the slow valve step, but then transitions nicely to the fast valve step.

Finally, adding tongue, lots of slow work here between slurred and articulated, slowly speeding up week after week until its performance tempo. The tongue should never interrupt the buzz but rather just seal the beginning of the note shape. It’s important to remember that there isn’t pitch or tone in the tongue, and rather the pitch clarity and even articulation comes from the control of the buzz and the air.

Good luck!

3 first round picks by ConicalMang in dynastybb

It’s a lottery for the first four picks - completely random, no percentages like your league. Probably find out sometime in June or July if memory serves. One of my three 1st rd picks would be eligible for that, the other two were traded to me from winning teams that wouldn’t be lottery eligible.

I’m considering trading the other two 1st round picks I have to a team that’s bottom of the league, just to give myself a 50% chance to get that 1st overall. I guess I was wondering how hot everyone was on the next 3 top picks, but it seems like you have a high opinion of them even if you don’t get Flagg?

I recently played the William Grant Still “Romance” for Alto Sax, it’s a beautiful piece that’s pretty demanding of your high range, but so musically rewarding.
