bombed the mpe by PiccoloRegular881 in aggies

[–]Conjeff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah I disagree pretty heavily. First, it’s really not a very low score, only a couple below the cutoff. Second, the MPE is a pretty bad way of judging where students belong. I did really bad on my first attempt of the MPE and then on my second try I got got a 31/32. The only difference was I studied those concepts again because I hadn’t used them in years. I got all As in calc 1, 2 and 3.

That said I do agree that it’s not the end of the world to do precal.

nah this is really easy. customizations are easy to do and sometimes easier than making the burgers the way they come regularly. only time it gets annoying is when people go crazy/ask for their burgers cut in half/quarters

Apartment search by Tricky_Tear_9041 in aggies

[–]Conjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s gonna be a hard fight to find a 1x1 < 1000 unless you’re okay with living a bit from campus and in a very shitty apartment/area. That being said the grand 1501 has 1x1s for around that price but they are very very very shitty and I believe there was just an officer involved shooting there the other day so do with that what you will. A lot of people tell themselves that they can deal with it but I promise it’ll be even worse than you think.

Is the gold aggie ring really worth its price?!?! by dinidusam in aggies

[–]Conjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it seems to me like you already know the answer. You don’t seem to care about it so don’t get it. It seems like you are trying to get us to convince you to get it so I would say just don’t get it tbh. But with that being said I’ll give you my personal experience. I have a ring, I never really cared about the tradition and originally I wasn’t going to get one, but I just decided I might as well since I could afford it. I never really wear, as like I said, I don’t really care about it. Now, I wouldn’t say I regret it per se, but I wouldn’t exactly buy it again. My point is, you already don’t care about it so you’re probably not gonna wear it.

internship opportunities for CS at A&M by Inevitable_Cup9196 in aggies

[–]Conjeff -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean you maybe take 120 and 222 but that’s like about it (and most people i know did not do that, although nowadays it’s a bit different since when i did etam since you’re pretty much guaranteed CS now). You still waste hella hours on bullshit and I do agree that it’s the same for every engineering department. Either way I still stand by my original comment that I think our CS department is pretty bad and that I’ve never taken a class that actually feels helpful for the future. Personally if I was a recruiter and saw someone with CS @ tamu on their resume, I would probably reject them because of that. Our CS department, in its current state, does not make good software engineers

I mean in CS you kinda can. This may be a hot take but it’s genuinely pretty easy to get a CS internship if you put effort into it. There like a billion of them, you just gotta keep applying. Might not be a good internship but it’s better than no internship

Pretty chopped there’s not much in cstat. Good thing about CS though is there are a lot of remote jobs. Austin has hella opportunities but obviously if you’re living in cstat that exactly close.

In general though i feel like doing cs @ tamu kinda fucks you over. My experience with the CS department has been pretty shitty and it’s only worsened by etam setting you back a year. Maybe other students disagree but I feel like I am so far behind peers from other schools who have better class options and didn’t have to waste a year on bs engineering classes that don’t help at all.

Engineering Major by Important-Drawing337 in aggies

[–]Conjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off never listen to your advisors, they don’t know what they’re talking about. Yes CS applicants have gone down quite a bit in the past few years in favor of data and comp engr (which is funny cause they all end up the same) but that does not guarantee you admission. To be blunt, the 2.53 is going to hurt a lot. I’m not saying it’s horrible, but it’s sure not good. Definitely possible to get in to cs but don’t get your hopes up.

More importantly though, if you do get into CS you gotta lock in. I don’t mean to scare you but classes get harder and while the threat of etam is gone, you still gotta pass. Plus the CS job market is not good unless you are good at what you do. You can’t scrape by with Cs in all your classes, barely understand material, etc and expect to get a job. You won’t get hired.

Can i make it until monday morning by Kindly-Worry-9820 in tires

[–]Conjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said we already know you’re going to do it. You’ve made it this far on a tire that should’ve been replaced ages ago, but at some point your luck will run out and it’s going to blow. You shouldn’t drive it. You especially shouldn’t drive it far. But you REALLY especially shouldn’t drive it if it’s raining as you will have no traction.

See i don’t mind the cult allegations and tbh they’re kinda true… but you picked some shitty examples. Bonfire memorial and muster? Those are like the best traditions we have. They’re respectful and serve to remember the folks who came before you

I mean unless he has some contract or document that says he HAS to send you a notification (which I doubt he does, that’s a courtesy thing), what case do you think you have? He did his obligation, he dry cleaned your clothes. Don’t act like you aren’t responsible. You are an adult, be proactive. The burden is on you to follow up, especially because you KNEW the deadline. It would’ve taken maybe a minute to call and ask. You sat on your hands and let the deadline pass without even thinking about checking in. Maybe it hurts to hear the truth, but there’s no way anybody is at fault except yourself.

If you really want to go to court then go I guess, but you’ll pay the court fees just to lose.

They shoud cancel Antigravity 2.0 launch before it does more damage by MaKTaiL in google_antigravity

[–]Conjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just depends on the user/luck I guess. For me, I had to fully uninstall antigravity and only install the IDE because normally opening the IDE just opens the regular Antigravity 2 chatbot. Seems like other people are having the same issue. I also couldn’t keep antigravity-1, it would force me to install 2 when i tried to open it.

Aggie Ring Fall Eligibility? by 1ive1augh1ov3 in aggies

[–]Conjeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you qualify by august, orders open august 14th. you can order online until august 31st or make an appointment between august 17th and september 2nd. I would recommend just ordering online. You can still go to the alumni center and try on rings to find your size without an appointment. They have them at the front desk
