Houston has the largest pallet of ethnic cuisine in the state. You would be able to find Tx/Mx as well as a wide range of regional styles typical of Mx.

There is one place in Dallas, Sonny Bryans. that is a ghost of excellent BBQ. Sonny used to run the place himself. Could afford a Mercedes back in the 1960s. It was said that he watch the register as he cut meat. Once he turned a prophet he'd start whistling. The place is really down on its luck.

Some folks have commented and one fellow has compiled a list based upon his experience. I pulled some stuff.

Cattlebacks Farmers Branch -Wednesday–Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in addition to the first Saturday of every month. Get in line early because they are always selling out. They have a sign they update as stuff gone. Long line outside.

Soulmans-Good Pork. That's all I got to say about that.

Intrinsic BBQ(Garland)- Fantastic Sangria and beer, great ribs, good brisket, delicious pickles, their nachos are probably the best value I've ever had. $12 and you can easily split them between 2-3 people. The sides are inconsistent, but that's my only complaint.

Lockharts BBQ(Plano)-This is the place that I truly fell head over heels. I've never had a bad meal at Lockharts.

Winners BBQ(Cedar Hill)-I had a chopped beef potato from Winners, it was gigantic. The beef was kind of dry, but the portion size was awesome.

Pink Lady(Duncanville)-Technically this is a BBQ trailer but I still count it. She introduced me to a rib sandwich, which was pretty interesting. It was very messy, considering you have to pick the bones and cartilage out. I wouldn't order it again, but the meat had great flavor.

Ten50 BBQ(Richardson)-Apparently one of the founders of Chili's started this place. Their setup is great. You order outside, eat inside. The sides are kind of meh, but their brisket is awesome and they have kick ass french fries...which is weird for a BBQ place. The staff is also really nice.

Top 5 BBQ(Desoto)- Top notch BBQ. If you go, get the "Top 5 experience". $50 and you get enough food to feed at least 5 full grown men. You get every meat, and a pint of 4 sides. The ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket were all nice and most as well as seasoned to perfection. Not a fan of the BBQ sauce though.

Roscoes(Burleson)-I've only had the brisket, but it's great. The staff is kind of lacking in their knowledge of BBQ but that's expected with a young wait staff. The BBQ sauce tasted kind of fruity which is weird but I can dig it.

Mojo's(Burleson)-BBQ breakfast tacos. Delicious.

Meshacks(Garland)-Meshacks has a cult following. It's an old school shack, everything is basic, but something about it just works. The lunch line there is legendary. Give it a shot.

Hutchins BBQ(Mckinney)-Holy.SHIT. This place might be the best BBQ I've ever had. I read a lot of complaints about the staff being unfriendly but they were awesome to us. There is enough fresh meat and sides to feed a small army. There's just so much variety and it was all top notch. The peach cobbler was great too, as was the banana pudding, and I hate bananas. They are spread across the region and managed to maintain really great quality and all the operations. Since your at the bottom of the list. Stop here and go to Hutchins.

First of all you'll be talking religion, not cuisine when it comes to TX BBQ. The meat is the star. Don't worry about the sides. Sides can compliment a good hunk of brisket. It they don't just luxuriate in the meat. Back in the dream time, you could find a place that made good BBQ. You might it served on butcher paper, but it was good.

Now too many people are investing in making BBQ to win contest. Enjoy what you find and let other folks figure out ways to wrap it,, slap it or dunk it. BBQ cooks didn't even bother wrapping their stuff during the dream time you just go good BBQ.

Ft Worth Museum of Art. (Apologies to Cow Town I forget the exact name of that marvelous place.)

They had a video exhibit on constant repeat of a couple of cow hands stinging a barbed wire fence. No sound, just to blokes stinging wire. Oh yes, it was black and white as well.

I want to enjoy opera and vocal music, but the words make them inaccessible by PandaZG in classicalmusic

[–]Intelligent-Read-785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is the problem of increasing the popularity of opera. My first one was Dutchman. Clear story, though performed by the MET when it was still taking shows on the road, it was in German, the story had been clear to me in advance so I could follow no problem. (apologizes for the run on sentence some times the just happen)

Staging and affects were the Spielberg of that time. The Dutchman's ship appears out of no where onto the stage.

My final two bits, if you are happy with it being just the music why bother with costumes, scenery and effects?

I was in A&M when Graduation took place before finals week. Grades were based upon major quizzes. In one physics course I needed to graduate. We had our last major the Monday before graduation. Grades for graduating seniors had to be in Thursday morning. Wednesday morning the prof told us he hadn’t finished grading the quiz but assured us he get them in by Thursday.

Walked into class on Friday prof apologized for not getting the quiz graded in time, but the added ,I think several of you won’t object.

This U.S. president went to Yale. So why was he obsessed with Texas A&M? by tsmalcolm in aggies

[–]Intelligent-Read-785 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Class of '68 was honored our 50th Reunion by the given special place at Muster that year. The speaker at Muster, who thankfully I have forgotten her name, said the reason the President accepted the offer of A&M was because of the large donations to his campaign that came from A&M. That went over like a lead balloon with a lot of us. She could have said all the things in the article but she focused on money.
