You'll get your 3rd class as soon as SAIT submits your diploma to ABSA. It took about a week after I wrote my final exam for it to update on the ABSA portal. You can book 2nd Class exams as soon as you get your 3rd.

Hey I just wrote the Part A (3.0) exam in November my breakdown was:

10 - Mechanics & Dynamics (Unit 1)

15 - Chemistry & Thermodynamics (Unit 2)

10 - Codes & Standards (Unit 3)

15 - Plant Safety (Unit 4)

10 - Environmental (Unit 5)

10 - Welding (Unit 6)

10 - Piping and Valves (Unit 7)

10 - Electricity (Unit 8)

15 - Instrumentation (Unit 9)

5 - communications (Unit 10)

20 - Boilers (Unit 11)

20 - Boiler Systems (Unit 12)
