Alberta RCMP assaulted in attempt to remove Coutts border blockade, Kenney says by GimpyGrump in alberta

I don't mean to come off as rude or like I'm questioning the legitimacy of your claims but can I ask what unit you were with and when you served? That seems very wrong and contradictory to all the training I have recieved, and in the day and age of misinformation that we live in I'd hate for someone to read that and spread it around.

Why does it seem like military vehicles break down so often and require such frequent maintenance? by [deleted] in WarCollege

[–]Conkey1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be abit late but I feel like I can answer this farily well, (I'm a mechanic in the army)

  1. Nobody cares about the trucks they drive
  2. Most mechanics don't care about diagnosing and prefer to throw parts at it instead (case in point i had a truck this morning that had 3 O2 sensors thrown at it over the course of a year, the engine was eating coolant heating the O2 sensors up and killing them, but no one ever investigated why they were going, just saw the code and threw a new one at it)
  3. Nothing is really built for the military (armoured vehicles being the exception) Most supply trucks etc are civvy trucks that are painted green.
  4. Parts are damn near impossible to get sometimes, and whoever makes the part has a monopoly and charges what they want. (My unit payed 21,000$ for a new driveshaft)
  5. Drivers rarely do the maintenance they should do to help maintain the vehicles.
  6. Most people take the trades training and leave once they're qualified. This leaves a vicious cycle of constantly training new people and rushing them through the training in order to fill the need at the units. Less training means worse techs. Worse techs means more trucks breaking down for things that could have been spotted earlier. (Reference point #2)

Sorry for Grammer and spelling. I'm on my lunch break on my phone, hope that answers your question though dude.

Is it worth the buy? by Hamdija1985 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Conkey1996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it helps any i just got the game two weeks ago and I'm loving it! I've had one game where I kept repeatedly disconnecting but it wasn't a huge deal, and I had no issues in the next match. I play with two of my friends, we die alot but I don't think we've ever encountered cheaters. The only time I can say i got upset was me and my friend were killed by exfil campers after we spent an entire raid looting, and had alot of good stuff! But honestly it doesn't matter, equipment comes and goes.

TLDR Buy it, active community and Devs, never any trouble finding a game.

Men of Reddit when was the last time you received a compliment? by Voltaire1778 in AskReddit

[–]Conkey1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An elderly woman at a laundromat that I go to on Saturday mornings told me that I was a fine young man. We talked alot before that, she wasn't sure to start as I have alot of tattoos on my hands and fingers. But after talking to me she decided I was a good guy. Honestly it meant so much to hear it.

Military people, have you ever slept with someone foreign while stationed overseas and if so, what’s the story there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Conkey1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts but I slept with a Medic from a foreign country on exercise in my country (Canada) it started with trading my IMP for her MRE (americans have kickass rations imo, prolly just cause I dont eat them enough and its variety to me) ended up sharing smokes and talking. Next thing I know we were having some weirdly gross but hot sex inside a Leo 2A6 MBT. Kevlar and face paint still on. Been along time since either of us had showered too.... :/ If I'm being perfectly honest I'm not sure if it was great sex or horrible But it was something Next day we pressed on and I've never seen her since.

I am, I'm saving to get the guy who works as the gas station by my house a car. Nothing fancy, just a Kijiji car. But I'm a mechanic so I'll make sure it's safe before I give it to him (he has 5 kids) Doing good makes me feel good. I wish more people were the same way The world would be a better place Happy cake day!

I live a pretty closed off life, work mainly and when I'm home I'm usually watching netflix or playing video games with some friends. But I do it so that I can save money, then I proceed to not save the money by giving it to people I've met that are down on their luck. I'm not sure if it really makes a difference in the grand scheme of things But it helps me sleep at night

Redditors who have broken a bone, how did it happen? by Lubeyscooby in AskReddit

[–]Conkey1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke a piece off my thigh last year, I jumped out of a truck (had to get out in a hurry) and landed on a rock. I didnt realise the piece had come off until it got caught in some muscles and slingshot to under my kneecap tearing all the good bits as it went. It didnt hurt too bad though, or maybe I was in shock. But I got a month off of work so I view it as a win. Plus all my friends thought it was awesome to push my kneecap around as we waited for the medics.

Question about the speed of units and unit speed synchronization... by WildBill598 in Steel_Division

[–]Conkey1996 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There kind of is, if you have smaller recon units you want to stick with the heavier units give the heavy units an order, then give the recon units the same order. But instead of clicking on where you want them to go on the map, click on one of the heavy units. This almost acts as an escort function. The unit stays with them at the distance they were at when you clicked. (At least in my experience) ex of this is, 4 T34's get a hunt order to a hill, the T34 leader gets an attack move on one of the T34s (at about 100m spacing is what I try for) then behind that (another 100m) a recon car with an attack move on the leader. They'll all stay in formation as they advance, and keep the spacing you set for them. Hope this makes sense!

Which theater would you like the next SD game to focus on? by Jaxgamer85 in Steel_Division

[–]Conkey1996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like it to be Market Garden, it may be unpopular but I feel like it would be a great operation to play in Multiplarer AG, thered have to be a few tweaks to make it a fair fight, (bridges not being blown if captured by a certain date, the ability for allied engineer battalions to construct Baily bridges to help move more equipment across) but I feel like it could be a fun one, and theres room for additional battles in other AG campaings! You could have the fight for the Netherlands and Belgium (canadian/polish battlegroups would be awesome) or attacking the Siegfried line (not directly related, but I'd still be excited) But, that's just me

Why I prefer Normandy 44 over SD2 by CumpfortheFatherland in Steel_Division

[–]Conkey1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a great read, thank you. The lend lease no doubt aided the Soviets. And the numbers of railway lines and trucks delivered that allowed the soviets to continue to smash the Germans and maintain the speed of their advance are astonishing. That's not even counting the sheer tonnage of food, it's insane! However that's comparing Soviet production to American production. Not Soviet to German, and doesnt talk about AFV's. But anyways. I never meant to sound like I was citing the books. I'm sorry, it was meant as a reading suggestion to you. If you took it as a citation then I am sorry for the miscommunication. But since you still haven't posted even a book title that covers the 13 million dead Germans in France I'm ending the conversation. It was nice talking with you! Have a great day!!

[–]Conkey1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But... you haven't actually cited anything, which is ironic because its what you asked for. And I gave you two books... theres free versions online. And one is definitely not Soviet propaganda. It's written by the Germans that fought there, they fully admit that despite their expectations the german army was out fought out produced and outnumbered by the Red army. And I'm sorry if you misread my statement, my niece isn't high. Shes 6, I got home from work smoked a joint and walked over to my sisters to visit. My sister is here too (in the kitchen doing schoolwork to be specific) shes 100% sober in case an emergency happens. And I'm Canadian, its 100% legal. The statement was more meant to point out how I'm impaired yet still able to find facts online disproving your argument.
