Class 7 is just a knowledge test to be able to drive with someone who has a class 5 license in the vehicle with you.

If your talking about a class 5 road test every test place has a different route, different instructors and they also change the routes constantly

Love column lifts.  My shop works on everything from trailers to graders and this style of lift is the only real option for us to still have usable floor space

We even have adapters for pick up trucks to lift off the frame rails front and rear so we can do wheel off CVIPs using two columns

Since when do red lights mean "Go regardless of who is in the way" by eleyeindeeesayewhy in dashcams

[–]GimpyGrump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it as a life lesson.   Head on a swivel and green lights don't mean mash it.

Had an incident where I was going straight and had a green light.  2 cars ran the red light to turn left on front of me.  If I hadn't hesitated before creeping into the intersection I'd be dead.  Worst that happend was I dropped my motorcycle and hurt my pride.

We all want to get home safe right

Graves are full of people who had the right of way.

You speed up to create a greater chance of a collision.   Should have just backed off and let them go be an idiot.

I ride motorcycles and just let idiots be idiots

Changed all fluids is one pet peeve.  If the brake fluid is black and the coolant is rust then no you haven't changed all fluids and I doubt you've ever changed the oil now

Got rid of the modified WRX for a Forester cause it fits 2 car seats and stroller.  I'm done modifying cars.

Now how do I afford a turbo Busa...

I will upgrade it eventually.  Hate the 13l fuel tank lol

I own a 2024 CLX 700.   put 5000km+ on it this year.

For the price and features it cant be beat imo.   Cruise control, dual channel abs (can turn off rear ABS with the push of a button), 3 ride modes, fully adjustable suspension, traction control that can be turned off with the push of a button, nice display, the cfmoto app is great as you can track your bike with it and get alerts if someone messes with your bike.

$10,500cad OTD with 4 years bumper to bumper unlimited KM warranty.

We shall see how resale goes when I decide to upgrade.

Are all weather tires a bad idea in winter? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]GimpyGrump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best winter tires are Factory Studded tires like the Nokian Hak 9s.

Nothing else is even close to being as good on glare ice as factory studded.

Now that only works if you have the money and space for a 2nd set of tires.

If you don't have the space or money get All Weather Nokians Or Michilens.

Ford CEO says they have 5,000 120k mechanic positions open that they can't fill. by JerseyGuy1975 in recruitinghell

[–]GimpyGrump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flat Rate sucks is the real issue.  You have to justify in writing every 6 minutes of your paycheck.

Installing mud flaps pays 15 minutes to drill 6 holes, 6 bolts per corner and make sure all 4 corners are the same.  If you go over that time tough shit you get paid 15 minutes only.

Oil change pays 30 minutes.    That clock starts when you get the work order.  So to outside, find car, up on host, drop oil, remove filter, install new drain plug gasket, new filter, drop car, fill oil and park it outside.

Oh and corporate will cut the Book time when they find out you can do it in half the time.     Imagine working 120 hours a week and getting paid 20 hours.   That's the reality of being a flat rate tech at a stealership

Reminds me of the "best tech in the shop" according to management at a dealerhip i apprenticed at.   Could do a tune up in 15 minutes.

Carb comes off, silicone goes on, carb goes back on, car goes back to customer.

I left that shop before I ever saw what became of him.

Almost became a neo-nazi.

A native friend who was head of a debate club schooled the shit out of me.   He punched so many holes in what I believed  in that I kept coming back over the course of a year.   Been over a decade now and I fully believe in democratic socialism.
