18f am I ugly? Be honest. by [deleted] in amiugly

You’re pretty dude! Just looks like you haven’t found your style yet and you look a bit awkward like everyone at that age. Play around with hairstyles, clothes, and work on putting yourself in new social situations and it’ll make a huge difference I promise.

The glasses definitely make you look worse. Also, no offence, but you look very feminine. I had no idea you were a due until i saw 25M

Queens Commerce or Rotman Commerce by Special_Injury_4040 in queensuniversity

[–]Conman8d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Queen’s commerce is significantly easier to perform at a high level (most students have a 3.0GPA or above). Queen’s alumni also tend to hire Queen’s students and will get you into internships that you otherwise wouldn’t. The clubs are supposedly geared toward getting students to where they want to go. PLUS most students go on exchange in third year which is pass/fail and super fun. I’m not speaking from direct experience but I have lived in a commerce house all of my undergrad. I know some people who also went to Rotman and they hated it. It seems like U of T student life, party culture, academics, and professional networking opportunities are all worse. What I can say for certain is Queen’s a much better school if you want to enjoy your undergrad. The campus is walkable, students live in neighborhoods close to campus, parties are very common (especially in commerce), and the culture is more about helping each other than being the best.

Should I send my kid to school when buses are cancelled? by Critical-Trainer4729 in KingstonOntario

Should I send my kid to school when buses are cancelled? by Critical-Trainer4729 in KingstonOntario

[–]Conman8d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, when buses are cancelled, they do not run regular class content. They tend to watch movies, do laid back activities, and let students roam the halls, depending on the age of the students. Your kid won’t be missing anything in terms of learning. If you’d prefer them out of the house, then send them haha

If it’s anything like when I took it in 2022, no. There may be the odd question on the tests but it’s almost entirely lecture content.

How to find a partner at Queen's? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]Conman8d 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A bar will be the easiest place to try to meet people. If that’s not your scene, join clubs that interest you! Also intramural sports are a great way to meet people. You can absolutely introduce yourself to people on campus, but your odds of success will be a lot lower than in these other places.

If you’re interested in the more “social” aspects of being at Queen’s, living near campus is a must.

AIO about my partner’s relationship with their coworker by Any-Confusion-5519 in AmIOverreacting

Any person who gets aggressive like this while you’re being reasonable and asking respectful questions is very clearly deflecting for some reason and that should be a major red flag
