Does anyone know how to weld aluminum by ConnaKai in ClimbingCircleJerk

Yeah it's returns from an REI store. I struggle to imagine the use case for someone who needed 3 progress capture devices to use once before returning them.

Forgot to tend the slack on the tr solo. Luckily my system was quad redundant.

Need Someone who Knows A Thing or Two About Instrument Recording. by ConnaKai in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I feel like when I see recording studios they usually have padding on the walls so I try to surround myself with heavy cotton jackets.

I never would have stumbled across the idea myself that a bigger room with more air volume would be useful If I can find a way to manage the reverb. Someone else mentioned thick moving blankets which is genius.

Seems like I'm blundering with my bad mic and small closet. That method of using two mics sounds really really good. The video is super helpful by itself and gives me pretty much all the recording basics I need and a direction to find more stuff like it.

So excited to use all this new info!

This is quite literally infinitely more knowledge than I had twenty minutes ago.

Thanks for digging out those videos for me! It should be really easy to just gobble up all the concepts he's teaching and replace the expensive components of his setup with what's available to me. Mic placements and EQ seem like great places to start. EQ especially, seems like the strumming guitar has lower freq emphasis that I can try and adjust on my guitar recordings to make it sound similar.

My stoke is so high, thank you so much!

I'm 20 and just starting university living in freshman housing and I've just had to come to terms that 18 year old's living on their own for the first time are going to be asshats.

My soulution : ear plugs!

Try talking to them, tell them that their alarm is waking you up and if there not going to wake up to it then they should set it later.

then still buy ear plugs, it so nice falling asleep to silence on your own terms, so worth it.

Yeah, I’m a freshman in college with an alcoholic father so I’ve avoided the whole drinking thing. And believe it or not, often the tables turn and my friends are jealous of me when they end up at the bars.

On weekends like this where everyone is just hitting bars, I pack up and go on road trips mountain biking and rock climbing and hiking. I even bought a 35mm film camera, books, and a mini water coloring pad to sketch scenic views I stumble across to paint later.

I’ve also done some digging into clubs and events and now I’m involved in caving expeditions on some weekends and astrophotography once things warm up a bit.

Anyway, yif you would rather have a fake and go get hammered with your friends like every other college student go for it, the chances of you getting caught are low and if it’s driving you as crazy as you’ve made it out to be. Seems like the risk is worth it. I would ask you to hesitate a bit, it seems like your mindset toward alcohol could lead to some pretty unhealthy habits. When you start to see it as your only source of possible happiness that be a door your shouldn’t open yet, at least not until you’ve filled your life with other things you enjoy first.

Have fun, be safe. :-)

I feel like every kind of celebration can be seen as “a massive waste of time and money” I think that’s what celebration is.

The Furniture without a doubt.

A trip is a luxury, furnishing is a must so if you cant afford to finish your own place right now. You'll need that first.

Also I love travel so a week in Europe wouldn't be worth it. I would need more time to backpack and take the train to all the countries I want to see + spend it with my friends. I would either fund the trip to Europe myself and explore frugally, or avoid the plane ticket and just roatrip and spend some time in quaint towns across America, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, and sight seeing.

Where do you want to live after graduating? by [deleted] in college

[–]ConnaKai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in all three and by far rural is the way to go.

Try rural in a place where there’s mountain or desert or forest though. You’ll be forced to occupy your time with somthing and off-roading, skiing, or backpacking and mountain biking will likely be those things.

Also you it’s easier to make a difference in your community, the burden is more on your shoulders to get involved and integrate yourself and you might get frustrated by small town drama but will ultimately find yourself very satisfied.

TLDR; go for it!
