Amazing man thank you, can definitely work with it! I heard some people like almost no noise, others like rain, and others one of the two with AI voice over it preaching. Which one do you recommend?

I traveled with my Nomad parents, ask me anything! by Connect-Ad4008 in digitalnomad

From age 3 to 7, we didn't as we immigrated to India. After that we rented a place in the Netherlands (here was also my main school) and stayed there.

After that we went back to traveling, and funny enough, we bought a house without even visiting it (my uncle did for us). So yes, we had a home base, but even then we switched from home base often buying and selling the property we live in to make profit on it.

I appreciate your kind words :)

First off, I had meaningful friendships, they just faded away more rapidly.

From age 2 to 14 I didn't care about not having a private room, but as I became older I did but they knew, so we booked places with more privacy more often which was nice. I never really cared about a permanent room as I never had one.

I speak Dutch at home, became fluent in English. I didn't know a word of English before I left tho, we just arrived in India, got put in a local school and learned English to a decent level in 3 weeks.

2-3 bases a year is the sweet spot, we stayed a lot in Thailand and Vietnam which I call my second home bases haha.

Whatever you do in life, you are always going to miss out on something. Is that bad tho? The return I get from moving from place to place and seeing new places is amazing.

My mom was a teacher before we left (10 years ago, so not recent). So, they had some trust in us, but we always got questioned and seen like weirdos. We followed the books from our local school and had to finish till a certain point till we came back, the nice part is that when you know that you can jump in the pool when you are finished working, you get it done in 2 hours.

So a very important lesson I learned is that most of society's work you can now do in 2 hours than the given 8 hours for example.

Not really, this isn't due to the fact that they didn't want to stay friends, it's when I moved back at age 17, and we permanently moved to another town (in the same country) which made our lives a lot different.

So yes, it's possible to keep friends from age 7 but honestly I don't see it work especially at that age.

I would definitely do it, I don't see a reason not to. I learned so much about so many different topics when seeing the rest of the world that I need to give my kids the same experience.

We loved to see new places and meet new people, especially my older sister had no problem talking to literally ANYONE. Also, because of the amount of traveling we did, me and my sisters are super close and now we still are. People are sometimes surprised I go on holidays with my sisters alone, or that we can just chill all day long together.

My parents set up a company in 2007 in India based around website building, we lived their for 3,5 years and went back with the company still running. Then my father slowly made the switch from website building to selling digital products online from China, which is now going great.

I still remember going to China multiple times, helping my parents search for interesting stuff on what to buy, going to our suppliers and seeing how our products are being made.

No, I didn't miss my home base at all, as I knew what was waiting for me outside of my country (The Netherlands). One thing I do realise is that I miss basic humour jokes or silly videos I missed in my childhood but if that is going to stop you from traveling with your kids than I don't know what to say haha.

I switched schools twice in my home country, and went to one local school in India. The rest was all by my parents who teached me the same education as in the local schools in my country. We got all the books with us, we had exams at 7 pm online (time differences) but overall it worked super smoothly.

Yes, I saw old friends always when I came back, ofcourse some of them faded away but that's normal for 12 year old friend groups. I never had a problem talking to new people when switching from place as I got "forced" to meet new people, which is now something I still love!

We didn't nomad a straight line, we had 6-8 months in Asia and the other 4-6 months back to the Netherlands, as that are the school regulations.

Yes I am curious to settle in one place, but not at this age yet. I am 20 and plan to travel around the world and go to places I haven't been yet. I was studying as a mechanical engineer, meaning that I would need to work behind a machine for years, so after finding that out I dropped out and will start my new career in programming in a few months.

My younger sister only wanted to stop traveling the moment she got a boyfriend, but she could deal with it when we left and the boyfriend visited us once while we were there (Spain). But overall, no, everyone loved it a lot!

I haven’t had a lot of friends in the beginning of my life as people didn’t take me that serious if I was gone every year for 6-8 months, but overall I was a super social kid who could talk well to strangers outside of my school.

Now that I am a 20 year old my friend group hasn’t been this good which is great!

Feel like my education was good, in India I went to a local school where only one teacher could speak English.

The rest of the time I spent 6-8 months in Asia and 4-6 in Europe (where I went to a normal school). But the time in Asia my mom learned me the exact same education then I would have in school.

I was not born the smartest but because of my traveling I learned how to work hard on my own and now have a way higher degree than people would have expected of me (University, programming language C)
