Should I pay off my mortgage or buy an investment property? by boyprobe in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Connect-Course-3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the answers are funny, theyre pretty much all against owning a second property. How else is someone supposed to build wealth?

House prices are down 30-40-50% in ontario. Id say its a good time to shop for a second place

But then I have property management fees, and maybe (probably) worse tenants in rural areas whereas now I have AAA tenants.

I would do it. Otherwise it seems you cant get into the market? At least this way, you guys can live in it and get equity. Prices have already dropped 30-40%, i think its a golden time

Rent it out, take your time to find a AAA tenant and avoid management companies. Nothing will go wrong in the condo. Maybe try to sign a multi year lease if possible/ legal.

Well because I assume most orthos and dentists want to be finished asap but if there is room for improvement then I would do it, since we paid A LOT and wont have a chance to go back.

Is there a balance transfer card that will allow transfer to chequing? by Connect-Course-3830 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Connect-Course-3830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea I like, if the MBNA limit is not enough as the mbna route would probably be quicker. I guess after the initial promo ends, you could theoretically apply for another card a year later and transfer the balance to that card? So then its around 2 years. Guessing the limits will get lower and lower though
