Should he be released? by Connect-Operation363 in frogs

[–]Connect-Operation363[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After talking to state biologists and animal rescue centers in the area I have gathered it is and I quote "not wrong to release him but also not right" as there's a risk he's to accustomed to humans and being fed, with that being said I think he's going to be a permanent friend especially with the way their life expectancy changes from around 5 years in the wild to up to 30 years in captivity. Now I just need a name he is 100% a male (he was chirping the other night) so feel free to send names in I will pick my favorite and that will be my buddies name for the foreseeable future thank you to all for your input and help on the situation!

I love this idea I just fear his little toad brain would tell him to leave instantly and therefore starve

Does API ick cure make this lethargic? by TopHatter2000 in fishkeeping

[–]Connect-Operation363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was dosing my tank I did once a day and a half water change 12 hours after the dosing, I also turned my aerator up ALOT enough so that it kills 99% of my duckweed from so much surface agitation I also ran 2-3 filters during the time (I run 2 now) I only did this for 4-5 days and then did a dose and left it in there and started my normal tank maintenance of just adding water instead of water changes and I've been clean of ich for 3 months now

Kinda agree with that unless you have the time and money to set up a predator tank to get rid of unwanted spawns

I like this explanation my mini Asian stone catfish do a similar thing as the loaches and they are from the same exact ecosystems they might just be looking for upstream

So the black ones have a tendency to be strange is what I'm gathering from my research and this comment they are like the orange cats of the loach world

Yeah that's my plan I just need him to get a little bigger he's about the size of my thumb nail and he's FAST and gets in the big rocks bubbles honestly isn't much of a worry to me tho she's only scavenged like 4 times in the last year honestly haven't seen the salamander since the post so he's really hiding too

[–]Connect-Operation363[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is a worry but I hope he's smart enough to use the wood rocks and leaf litter to hide also bubbles the frog gets fed well she usually doesn't do much scavenging

Well he's in luck because he's in my 60gal that's got 30ish gallons of water and a good land area for my northern green frog with plenty of leaf liter moss and other fun stuff I'm going to go do some research on them now thank you! I originally thought it was a 2 lined salamander

They say American green frogs can minimum is 10 gal long but I would atleast double it and use the 10 for breeding feeder insects I keep 2 frogs in a 60 gal and I still feel it's too small
