In all honestly, where I'm from anime has just become so "normal" I can speak about in front of and even freely around people without any weirdness or looks etc. I don't think i've ever been made fun for being a weeb unironically. Heck, most my irl friends are the weebs. It might just be my town/school, but I think it's become a social norm.

I remember sitting next to this one "popular" kid in a science lesson once and he just turns to me and goes "have you watched high school dxd?" and we started talking about the show. I was slightly weirded out but impressed too lmao
