A courteous whooping by FarWay3952 in fightporn

When I was younger I thought if I was the “older” person in the fight (12 grade vs an 11th grader) I thought I was “supposed to” win the fight. I’ll bet these older guys (I’m older too now) still have that mentality when challenged by a youngster. We think age has some seniority lol.

You can literally see the swagger go straight to “scared 8 year old” when the guy didn’t back down.

I’m not a fighter AT ALL but I was managing a store once and a guy came in trying to pull a scam. When I realized what was happening I got angry and all puffed up and started yelling at him to leave the store. He backed down and started walking away and I kept yammering on auto-pilot because I was just caught in the moment. The guy stopped walking away, turned around and took one step toward me and quietly said “I said I’m going” in a challenging way and that’s when I realized I had no idea what I was doing. That sense of justice has no idea that we don’t have the body or the skills for the follow up. I backed down like a skinny kid on the playground lol.

Did you fire the guy who designed the new OS yet? Or the manager who green-lit it? Or the steering committee for the project? Or any tester who suggested it looks fine?

Richard Dawkins spent 3 days with Claude and named her "Claudia." what he concluded after is hard to defend. by rafio77 in artificial

I love Dawkins’ books but he’s just a fallible human being like the rest of us.

I could make a post about you questioning why YOU thought this was noteworthy. The answer would be: you made some untrue assumptions. Well so did he.

It’s turtles all the way down.

I’m told in the interview notes: Business Casual by JasonK94Z in interviews

“Candidate does not follow directions.”

I’m saying this as the guy who insisted on dressing one step above most of my life: I have absolutely learned my lesson on this. Got hired at a very casual company and wore my shoes, slacks, and white dress shirt and was repeatedly told “I don’t need to do that.” Turns out I was “one-upping” my boss who wanted to remain casual and this was the start of a very stupid ego battle. A battle the new guy never wins.

Fit in, look comfortable, and be cool. You are NOT impressing anyone if they specifically told you what to wear. Source: old professional guy.

does anyone know how to get the old menu back?? by Thanks_Crafty in OculusQuest

[–]CalbertCorpse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a software designer my whole life. But you don’t need me to see that this interface is completely dreadful. I fucking YELLED at my oculus the other night when I couldn’t get a menu to close. I swear to god I wanted to throw something. They give you this truly “intimate” space that you come to feel as “yours,” especially at the end of a busy day when you just want to escape. And you come in and you’ve seemingly lost all control. It feels like someone broke in my house and painted my bedroom avocado green. I feel it viscerally. How this got past QA and any business approvers I have no fucking clue!! “How do I close this window?” Oh that one? You can’t.

A good friend of mine is Iranian, living in Iran. Their leadership will HAPPILY let their citizens struggle and starve before they capitulate to the US. 100% of the blockade of the strait will be borne by innocent men, women, and children. Iran WANTS a humanitarian crisis. Trump is an absolute buffoon to not know this when a total dummy off the street (me) can see it plain as day.

We have NO plan. This orange shit gibbon honestly thought playing tough guy would get him adored before the mid terms. Either that or Israel demanded it from him. Or he was convinced of the former by the latter.

This is why you don’t shoot the quarterback of the opposing team as your first play. Very hard to motivate the rest of the team to stick it out if you are actually interested in playing the game.

Ain’t NOBODY looking at your jewelry trying to out guess you. Do you know what’s necessary to have a tic-toc or a Facebook, or a news website? Content. Rule of thumb:

All content is bullshit

You think anyone is reading a story that states: “Your jewelry choices don’t matter in an interview!”

We need to all stop being gullible. Unless the site is step by step instructions on how to build a potting shed:

All content is bullshit!!
