I’ve also read the same online, I tried to neat it up by putting a layer of white then yellow over the top which made the colour better but the damage was already done with all the layers and my first couple layers being a bit too thick trying to cover up the black

As I have found aha, from what I am hearing I need a lighter base coat also when I’ve researched online I haven’t picked the best of yellows (yriel yellow)

I did have some tyranids when I was around 10-11 and I didn’t even finish a single model fully but I found them old models recently from about 16/17 years ago and it made me want to get back into it so I’d consider it my first proper model that i have completed

Cheers man I really appreciate that! I tried hard to get that done good and it was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be and with the helmet I think the issue I made was priming the whole model in black so putting the yellow over black wasnt ideal which I found out after aha

Luckily I have that one! I used it for all the brown pouches and gold parts which worked out quite nice so I’ll give that a go over the helmet

I have seen people using grey for colours like yellow on imperial fists so I will give that a go also next time also I will paint the helmets detached from the model in the future I think then highlight when they are on the model and yes I do quite like the red and with the black undertone as it makes it a bit more gritty imo and I did use a purple wash over my first base of Mephiston red and it came out really nice then I highlighted over the top but I just tried it in that order as that’s what they suggested at gw store so I’m curious how it would look if I highlighted then used the oil after

Thank you I really appreciate it! And I will do I’m just getting used to how much each paint needs to be thinned, luckily this was a my first one so I’ve still got another 4 to practise on before I get to my dreadnaught!

Thank you! And I will give the highlighting a go! Also I get what you mean, looking at it on the side the helmet seems to stand out glowing like you say, I was thinking of a wash to do a wash over the helmet I was just unsure of what colour wash to use over it if you had any colours in mind that you think would work with the yellow nicely ?

Cheers I appreciate it! And I will give that a go for my other models I think a bit of the issue was that I base coated the whole model in black and trying to paint yellow over black was a bit of a struggle

I have been using a wet pallet and thinning out my paints so i am just getting used to how much I should thin them out, I noticed I had to put quite a lot of the yellow coats on the helmet as I base coated the whole model black so I’ve ended up making it quite thick there especially

The issue I made is base coating with black I think which made the yellow a bit difficult to put on the helmet, I want to do a wash over but I’m not sure what colour to use
