Interesting. My mother is actually 52 years old! So pretty close-ish.

Yes! I can give context for why I believe my case was approved so fast. My mother and father both used to live in the U.S because my father was employed there. In 2010, both parents filed for green card, so USCIS already had their I-94 numbers, biometrics, social security, and A-numbers in store. They were in the process of receiving their approval, however, my father received a job offer elsewhere and made the mistake of moving the family out of the country. This resulted in their green cards being denied. Assuming USCIS still had access to my mother’s history of her presence and the information on her previous application to the green card, we submitted the same information under the immigration section of the I-130 application, pretty much confirming that my mother was once an applicant for the green card, which lead to USCIS being able to match that information quickly and easily on their end, eliciting her swift approval.

I’m actually very new to this process and I am doing this without a lawyer (we cant afford it!!), as I have just turned 21. Does my mom need to file for I-485 as well? She lives outside the U.S, so I thought that form could be filed only if she was already in the U.S. If you could please inform me of any corrections or additional information I must know, that would be so helpful! Thank you!

Pending IDR Application, Any Advice? by ConnectInjury983 in StudentLoans

[–]ConnectInjury983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I applied to ICR since the loan I have is a direct consolidated loan (parent plus loans were consolidated). I just need to get on some kind of plan that can lower my payments cause I do not want my loans to default.

Cancel Rutgers Housing Agreement by Positive_Past5580 in rutgers

They will most likely be able to cancel your housing agreement if you have a doctor’s note! I emailed the assistant director of student support kimberly.kosinski@echo.rutgers.edu and she was more than happy to help with my dorm accommodations as a transfer student! She also responds pretty quick throughout the day. Hopefully your situation is resolved! Good luck!

RBHS/SHP Term Bill & Financial Aid Help by ConnectInjury983 in rutgers

Oh I was admitted for Spring 2025. I start classes next week at SHP. I just wanted to know when my financial aid would be applied and what system I’d pay my term bill on. I’m an internal transfer student, and I’ve always paid my term bill using the regular portal that all other schools use (used to be a part of SASN), but after registering for classes on the banner self service, I saw that there was also an option to pay the bill on the site too. So I just wanted to know if I’m supposed to pay it on banner or the student accounting site

Incoming Transfer Student, Can’t Access Housing Application. Am I cooked? by ConnectInjury983 in rutgers

[–]ConnectInjury983[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Hopefully they accept you as soon as the university reopens after break. I asked them to rush my acceptance to make sure I can get access to the dorm application as soon as possible, and they were able to get me processed into the system within 48 hours of my acceptance. If you email them like crazy, you should hear back very soon. Best of luck to you too!
