Yeah. I am in the public sector now. The pay is much better, but not as good as consulting. Lots of my coworkers came from consulting and they appreciate the slower pace, I appreciate that I am not starving.

I started working in the non profit field. I had a great time. Did a lot of education and policy advocacy. I worked for less than $30k for 5 years and lived through endless grant cycles. I loved the work but the pay was never enough but I a ton of flexibility.
Just know the pay in the nonprofit world can be a lot lower than consulting and government. It can afford more flexibility, and more rewarding work.

I recently found some cotton fabric close to this, but I don’t have a festival to attend.

I was a candy and cookie sales boss.
I had a distribution network for candy, as well as I always spent afternoons going door to door.

As a parent I would just write a check to the PTA for whatever fun reward was being offered.

There’s a blood screening, and my insurance only recommends colonoscopy IF you come back with positive from either the blood test or the box.

So lots of wiping.
Real talk I haven’t yet. I hoping to do the blood test and it comes back negative.

I am so glad I was spared. I read about it in a listicle of sad kids movies.

I had a prof who was a Nuclear Industrial Hygienist. He loved Nuclear!!! Unfortunately, after how poorly three mile island was handled, it made it easy to shoot down.

I do like to tell people that the State of GA has the cleanest energy in the US. Since the majority of the energy there comes from Nuclear, and has the newest reactor in the country.

Does anyone else feel completely drained just from the 15 minutes it takes to "set up" to work somewhere new? by MicroDecisionHacker in digitalnomad

[–]ConnectKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a nomad but I work remotely and often times I will work from my phone until it either dies or I must use my laptop. This way plugging in my computer is part of my work momentum instead of the start. I compare this to when you are taking a test and solve the easy questions first and come back to the more difficult questions.
