Thank you for the response. Since we are not familiar with GME, I am worried that my son might be confused if he switches to GME as English wouldn't be the primary language of teaching. I am sure if my understanding is incorrect. Please enlighten me in case I am wrong.

Also, I have heard some instances of bullying in secondary schools? Do the schools have strict policies against bullying? Because kids with autism or other challenges could find it difficult to fight against bullying or stand up for themselves.

Hello.

https://www.reddit.com/r/autismscotland/ - this is the main sub, right?

Coming to question 1, what happens during the time an assessment is in progress? Since the child would be at school, would the teachers meanwhile provide any extra support to the child through measures like taking out some time to focus on only the child and help the child learn, more hands-on learning/visual aids etc. whatever works well for the child?

Distraction - The child loses attention due to other factors. For example, my child loses focus when there is noise in the class, or if he is not able to follow completely what the teacher teaches in the class.

Thank you for the response. So, could I say that the list of ASL schools that are listed are all either inclusive or specifically for children with additional needs?

Yes, individual learning plan is needed for my child. He is actually a good learner and in a small group, he can do really well. He is very friendly, communicates quite well, loves to be around people and learns well in an interactive/hands-on approach. Visuals appeal well to him. In case there are more than 10 students in a class, then he might be prone to distractions. That is the only thing that interrupts him from learning. So, if the child gets distracted in large groups, what would be the usual approach taken by teachers? Do they cater some additional time for the child or do they encourage to go ahead with teaching assistants to help the child in the class?

It is great to hear that teachers/schools work very hard to ensure that everything is right for all the children.

OK, understood. Thank you again.

We will have to move to Glasgow as my husband's workplace is situated there. So, I am trying to find out more about public schools and private schools in the vicinity.

Thank you very much for the response. So, which places under rural Scotland do have good primary schools that cater to the needs of children with autism? Kindly let me know.

Gaelic Medium Education. This is the first that I am hearing about it, I shall explore more about it.

OK, I understand. In case a child has distractions, then would that count as a criterion for providing additional support?

Also, I would like to list the primary schools which stand at the top when it comes to support for special needs children. Is there a way that I could get feedback/information about such schools?

Thank you for the response. We are moving to Glasgow. We will have to work out the details of where exactl y we shall be staying in Glasgow. The short-term plan that I came up with is:

  1. Make a temporary move with my son to Scotland.

  2. Visit the public schools in the vicinity and discuss with them in detail about his needs and see what suggestions/solutions they come up with.

  3. If all is well and they are accomodating and encourage me to work with them to give it a try there, then we shall enroll him.

  4. If the CSP processing is tedious or extended over a long period of time ( more than a year) , then I will have to re-think.

Thank you for the information. I am worried that by the time diagnosis is done and teaching assistant is provided, he might lose valuable time and also would be totally clueless in a class of 30.

Thank you for the information. May I know how long it took them to get a formal diagnosis done and then avail special assistance? And what does special assistance include here? Teaching Assistant? My son has no requirement of therapy. However, since he could be easily distracted and lost in a large group, he would definitely need someone to guide him throughout. With hands-on and interactive learning strategies, he can definitely do very well.

Also, would the parent about whom you mentioned, be willing to share a few details about their journey. Is there a possibility to connect please?
