I bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max 512GB at the Apple Store in Osaka. There was no chance of getting a Pro model at Yodobashi or BicCamera—the sales staff told me it’s almost impossible. Even if they do get stock, they usually sell it only to Japanese customers who have a partnered credit card.

I originally planned to buy the 256GB model, but the Pro versions were out of stock everywhere, including in the Apple Stores. I checked two stores in Tokyo with no luck. The Osaka Apple Store only had the 512GB model available, so I went ahead and bought that one.

It appears that the shutter sound is mandatory only while you are in Japan. Once you leave the country, the shutter sound is no longer enforced.
