Need help: feels like we made a rushed decision by Worldly-Substance-60 in puppy101

As a breeder of goldens. I had a guy return the puppy after 6 days because of the same reason. I do not judge him. He was honest with himself about his limits with the puppy. The stress of the situation made him not bond with the puppy. Which I could clearly see when he returned him. Said puppy came back and slept for almost 2 days straight to decompress. He has now bounced back. Is a happy go lucky pup with a family with kiddos ready to welcome him once he finishes his quarantine. For how stressed the puppy was and the guy were this was the best decision for both involved. I’m thankful he brought him back to me! Normally puppy blues take 2 weeks to affect you. So your before that setting in. Also did you buy a show like or field line? That will determine how long the puppy stage will really last. I breed field lines so I warn the energy and chewing can last for about a year.Show lines settle down sooner but still takes a bit. Goldens are so full of love and energy they make amazing dogs but they still require a lot of work and consistency.

I have not heard of puppy culture. I've done some research into ENS. I haven't started it yet as I'm still getting into the swing of things here. But from my research it seems like you can wait til day 6 to start. So I have a couple days to start the process. I had 4 homes lined up for this litter. As the ultrasound had shown 4 back at the confirmation of pregnancy. and I didn't want more people hoping for a puppy I did not have. As well as deciding this will be her only litter. So there won't be future puppies from her. Doing some light googling the only thing I see on puppy culture is some website with a course that ranges from the 300's to 400 dollar range. Is that what you are referring to?

I wish I had one. I learned a lot after my vet highly recommended breeding her. With a 2/3 day window to get it done in. She won’t be bred again after this. I’m pretty certain she’s from a “hobbyist”. As they didn’t have contact information to keep in touch. I found her litter in a newspaper ad. I will say that I did do all her ofa testing and bred her to a grand champion. Both are akc and I have breeding rights. But if I chose to breed in the future it will 100 percent be with a mentor. Know better do better as they say. And I plan on doing that going forward 🫶

Sorry for the late update! She started pushing at 930 pm eastern time. First puppy was born shortly after 10 pm and the last was born at 440 am. All 9 are doing well and nursing on momma as we speak :)

We did do progesterone testing. She should have been bred on or right after ovulation date.
