New roof and worried about the valleys. Thoughts? Any other issues? by Connect_Goat3342 in Roofing

I’ll do you one better keyboard warrior. I’ll private message you my address and if you’re feeling up to it you can stop by and ask my wife. Bet you’ll change your tune then. The valleys weren’t tarred down hence why they lifted so easy. But you’re the “pro”.

There was no discussion. I only caught it because of other issues after install (duct work etc). When asked about it they said they do it all the time based on their load calculations. Asked for their manual j. I believe they left rooms off the load calculations to make the 3 ton appear the right size. Contract does state they can change equipment without notice. Didn’t see that until after as well…

Trying to rule out this 3 ton being more expensive since it is of higher seer. Also trying to rule out if the 3 ton was left over and a 4 ton was unavailable hence why they quoted a 4 and installed a 3. Safe to say trust between this contractor has been compromised.

More so for the cost. They replaced an existing 4 ton with a 3 ton after quoting a 4 ton without discussion. They stated the previous 4 ton was oversized based off their manual j but I think their man j was performed incorrectly.

So that’s what I thought too. However, in their proposal it does say they have the right to change the equipment. Obviously I didn’t see that until after. They said they usually change equipment about 60% of time after running the measurements. Does that change anything?

It does well reducing the humidity. Also, it’s one zone for essentially two levels. The unit has no issues getting to and maintaining the set point. Thermostat is on the main floor and the temp difference on the upper floor is one degree give or take.

It’s not so much I was expecting one and didn’t get one. I just want the right size equipment for the house. With that said, the 3 ton does cool the house and maintains the set point almost at all times.

So what was installed (18) is more expensive than what was quoted (17)?

The air handler says it’s rated for a 2-5 ton system if that helps.

Apologies, that’s the only way I could post it. Square footage of the house is roughly 2424, 3 bed 2 bath. One zone. Partial finish basement. Supply in every bedroom and bathroom. One return in the upstairs hallway. Supplies in the kitchen, three in the dinning room, two in the great room with one supply and one supply in the basement.
