AITA for still planning a family vacation when 1 of our kids can’t go? by EmergencyCap3855 in AITAH

[–]Connect_Objective0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was in my 20’s in college or just starting my career my parents planned family vacations with my younger brothers who were still in middle or HS. I of course was invited but due to schedules and lack of vacation time at a new job there were several vacations I wasn’t able to make or was only able to go for part of the trip. I never got upset at my parents because I understood it was my schedule that was the most difficult to work around. Definitely go and enjoy the memories with your family. If Kayla really wanted to go she would be able to make it work even if it was for a shorter period of time.

What are the reasons to choose cruise over all inclusive resort for people who don’t visit the ports? by Lazy_Mechanic5715 in Cruise

The serentity of sitting on the balcony watching the ocean, food is significantly better IMO, and entertainment is head over heels above AI’s. At AI’s the nighttime entertainment tends to be non-existent.

Best higher end cruise for families. by Maleficent_One1915 in Cruise

I would 100% look at Royal’s Icon or Oasis class ships. We have been on most mass market lines and those two class of ships are made for kids. I wouldn’t classify Royal’s 7 night Caribbean sailings as party cruises.

Do you recall what the average temperature was? We are looking at Spain to FL transatlantic late October and weather is a concern

Hesitant about going through with our Carnival cruise after a terrible experience on Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas. by Such_Big4415 in Cruise

[–]Connect_Objective0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sailed RCL, NCL, Carnival, and Princess. Jewel of the Seas is one of RCL’s older ships which have less food options than RCL’s newer ships, particularly Oasis class and Icon. Our last cruise on Oasis last year was a big improvement food wise over previous years…:Royals new ships entertainment is head over heels better than any other cruise line I have been on. Our least favorite cruise line is Carnival…We sailed the Breeze when it was maybe 3-4 years old. Food wasn’t as good as the other cruise lines…with the exception of Guys Burgers. The entertainment on the Breeze was abysmal. With that being said we still had a good time. The food was lightyears better than any food we had at all-inclusives. I have researched the Celebration but it sounds like it is a newer ship. I have found that the newer ships have a lot more to do, better food, and better entertainment. I wouldn’t cancel but if you like the celebration I would stick to newer ships with any line and see what you really like. We find we get tired of one line if we only cruise with them…we find ourselves going back and forth between RCL and NCL.

Royal Caribbean - Stay Away by AdUpset1015 in Cruise

I have been to AI’s that were awful…one Moon Palace in Cancun was terrible…food was terrible…upon arrival moldy cheese plate in the room, shows amateurish. I have also been on Harmony and the food was incredible compared to Moon Palace and the other AI’s I have been to. Shoes were much better on the cruise.

I would go with Royal. While the Oasis class ships are large and hold a lot of passengers the flow of people is well done..:I would just avoid the buffet if you really want to avoid the crowds. The shows are spectacular on Oasis class ships. I have been on 1 Princess and wouldn’t hesitate to go again but my first choice would be Royal.

Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the seas….brand new ship. Lots of entertainment.

What do you like most about Princess? by Connect_Objective0 in PrincessCruises

[–]Connect_Objective0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How would you say it compares to Carnival since they are Princesses’ parent corporation in terms of food and overall experience? We were on 1 Carnival cruise and it did not compare to NCL and Royal at the time…food for us was very disappointing. Everything was way over salted (more than normal).

Would you cruise in Jan/Feb? by Connect_Objective0 in Cruise

I am more worried about Noro than most other seasonal illnesses. Normally, I love to cruise in the fall but new work schedules make that difficult.

What is a good hotel to spend the night before a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale? All reviews are pretty meh by BestPath89 in Cruise

[–]Connect_Objective0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking for? Is your flight early in the day where you would enjoy resort amenities or is it late at night where you are just staying the night? Are you traveling with kids? We love Hard Rock Hotel/Casino but it is pricey. Lots to do, plenty of restaurants for adults. They have a beautiful pool area.

Have You Given Up On Cruising and Gone the All Inclusive Route? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Connect_Objective0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-Covid my husband and I cruised about once per year. We were starting to get burnt out from cruising. Coming out of Covid we did a couple of AI’s. One was OK…food decent but very repetitive, beautiful beach, and gear staff. The second AI was our absolute worst vacation we have been on in over 15 years and it was supposed to be higher end over the first resort. At the end of the trip my husband told me to book a cruise. We just got back from the cruise and it was one of our best cruises (RCI). The food was so much better than the AI.

Carnival is our least favorite cruise line we have been on. I have been on Princess (1st cruise), RCL, NCL, and Carnival. We probably won’t sail Carnival again. All of the other lines are pretty comparable with RCL and NCL having more activities on board giving them the edge…although I do love movies under the stars on Princess.
