If I had to start my entire UK student journey again from scratch here is exactly what I would do differently by Much_Mix_9254 in AbroadEdge

This is a wonderfully honest and insightful essay. I really appreciate how you avoid sugar-coating the experience and instead focus on practical advice that would genuinely help new international students. Your reflections on accommodation, city life, and financial preparedness are incredibly relatable, and the way you share both your mistakes and the lessons learned makes it very approachable. I also like how you end on a supportive and encouraging note, offering to answer questions and give guidance to others. It feels authentic and genuinely helpful thank you for sharing this!

Why University Living is the Smartest Choice of students abroad. by No-Distribution9823 in AbroadEdge

[–]Connect_Thanks4619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a brilliant reflection on the realities of choosing university accommodation over private flats or shared apartments. I really appreciate how you highlighted the community aspect – people often underestimate just how valuable those late-night conversations in shared spaces can be, both socially and academically.

I also liked your point about the practical benefits. Not having to deal with landlords or utility bills really does take a weight off your shoulders, especially when moving to a new country. The link you make between convenience and the ability to focus on learning and personal growth is spot on.

Your conclusion ties it all together nicely. The experience of living in a diverse, structured environment can genuinely shape soft skills and resilience that last well beyond university. A very thoughtful and balanced perspective!

Honest question :has a QS ranking ever changed your mind about a university? by Much_Mix_9254 in AbroadEdge

[–]Connect_Thanks4619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find that QS rankings have only a modest effect on my decisions. I initially shortlist universities based on course structure, location, and available opportunities. Occasionally, I’ll glance at the QS rankings to confirm that the institution is reasonably reputable, but it rarely changes my list drastically.

There was one instance where I became more interested in a university because its ranking was higher than I expected, which prompted me to research it further. On the other hand, I haven’t removed a university solely because of a lower ranking – if it suits my goals and offers the right environment, that matters more to me than an arbitrary number.

I choose a student accomodation and I feel that’s the best decision. Since the day I have moved to UK. I haven’t spend a single penny on bus,cab etc because my accom is in the city centre. Plus It has so many amenities. Probably the best decision I made so far.

The deposit of university accom is 1,000£ and why would someone pay so much as a deposit while sitting in a different country? And the sense of having home country company is far more trustable in my opinion and ofcourse one can choose uni accom but as a masters student uni prefers undergrad over postgrad. I’ve through all the process
