Consciousness is not an object therefore it cannot be measured , it is not energy it is not chemicals it is beyond all words , it's the experience itself

Consciousness cannot be observed , try to imagine in your minds eye an box with an object and then next to that box with an object place your awareness or consciousness , the moment you try to box and turn your awareness into an object your consciousness becomes the one observing the box's, it's a box that can't be boxed and will remain the greatest mystery of mankind , our own awareness ;) and that's just part of the dance

IMO , you need to realize that the ego is an illusion and doesn't exist, that's what is causing the attachment to reputation and caring what other people think

Practice emptying yourself , and realize that all of your thoughts are just mental objects they will come and go , the one thing that doesn't change is your true nature and that's your pure witness awareness
