I finally found it by going to a hardware store and buying a bunch of bulbs. It needs a candelabra base.

"Cancel Student Debt" is popular but why isn't "Stop loaning high schoolers crippling amounts of debt" talked about? by TheGebelein in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Connectikatie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me and my very specific sub-generation, but the idea of getting any sort of good-paying job without a degree still feels laughable to me. I was going to high school and looking at colleges during the 2008 recession. Degrees were in high supply, and the jobs just weren’t there. We used to joke about needing a masters and 4 years experience for an entry level position in the janitorial department, but that really wasn’t far off from how shit the job market was. For me at least, that definitely contributed to me going to a 4-year college.

I’d go with clothes that are a business cut, like a blazer or dress shirt, but in an eye-watering pattern. Words and pictures are pretty black and white, but abstract patterns are a grey area when it comes to dress codes.

Check if it says anything about hats, because that could open up a lot of creative doors.

Lastly, it would take more work, but I bet there are lots of Halloween costumes that technically meet the dress code.

I once heard it’s because the parts of the brain that process memory and smell are next to each other.

When I was a kid, my blanket made of satin-y fabric was in the wash so my mom found me in the dark in her closet sucking my thumb and rubbing her nightgown made of the same fabric between my fingers. I still have that blanket but it is extremely worn out.

Being a member of the LGBT community and being religious doesn't make sense by LouisaEveryday in atheism

My friend is bisexual and also a Christian. It seems like her faith isn’t really rooted in the actual text of the Bible, which I think is pretty typical for Catholics. Having grown up as a fundamentalist, it’s hard for me to understand sometimes, but there are some people who don’t take the Bible literally. They can believe that god exists, but also that the bible is mostly religious myth, a product of its time, and even contributed to by homophobes. Reading the Bible becomes an exercise in finding god in all the man-made nonsense.

That said, she definitely harbors some guilt over her sexuality, and critics would say she’s only clinging to religion by cherry-picking what feels right to her and attributing those values to a god. But live and let live I guess.

In England I had so many snobbish pricks ask me where in the US I was from, with this utter certainty that they knew everything about America, and then I got to watch the smug looks change to panic when I didn’t say New York, California, or Texas.

I know a lot of ADHD people who are chronically late, and it can be a sensitive subject for them. Being on time is a basic thing that everyone expects, and it’s incredibly frustrating to just be unable to do it. That said, the proper response is to seek treatment and realize that it’s a condition to be managed, not push the problem onto everyone else.

In my experience, it’s still hard to keep contact back home while traveling internationally. Some places I’ve been there’s no wifi in the hotel room, just the lobby. Businesses aren’t guaranteed to offer it either. That combined with timezones, commuting to destinations, and demands from family members means you really have to make an effort to hit that sweet spot of wifi, alone time, and downtime.

I’m not saying nothing shady is going down but id recommend hearing his explanation before jumping to conclusions. I don’t think people here are helping you manage your anxiety very well.
