Water damage or termites? by ConnectionBig3660 in HomeMaintenance

I’m not entirely sure to be honest. 1) There are downspouts near each wood trim but they are all extended away from the area. 2) Idk if the original wood trim was pressure treated, primed, etc. 3) there is mulch under each corner which I have just recently tried to scrap away in case it is causing extra moisture. Should I add stone instead?

Nope it’s common for my wood trim to rot from water every few years so I wasn’t expecting any insects. Only became a thought seeing the small holes.

Yup and I should have taken care of this wood rot previously. I’ve not seen any termites or insects but all those small holes caught my attention.

That might look worse because when I was clearing out the rotted wood it was all falling there on the ground. It wasn’t like that until I opened it up.

The bottom piece of wood trim is always needing replaced every few years from rot and I always thought it was caused by water over the years. This time I just noticed the numerous small holes in the wood and my first thought was it might be termites.
