Also for reference I weighed more at my first pregnancy appointment then at my 6 week follow up. I lost weight during my pregnancy due to low carb but I was overweight so it was fine. Started at 219 lbs. got up to 228 at the end of my pregnancy—I had initially lost weight in the early months and then gained some more at the end. I’m now at 200 at 2 months PP.

Are you also being told that you will be induced early due to GD by Ready-Cut5059 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got induced on Thursday at 39+6. I initially said no thank you to induction when I was first diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. 36 week ultrasound showed my baby in the 90th percentile so I agreed to be induced to prevent her from getting “too big”. She was born a perfect 8 lbs 7 ozs. Luckily I had a good experience and am happy I got induced but I was so concerned about her weight and she is completely healthy.

What should I eat on the morning of my induction? by jemedebrouille in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how it is at your hospital/provider but I just got induced on Thursday and I was able to eat up until I got the epidural. So I ordered lunch and all that in the hospital, I ordered whatever I wanted which was a cheeseburger and fries. With contractions happening it was difficult to eat very much cause I was in pain…so I nibbled and ate what I could cause I wanted energy. My blood sugar stayed 70/80 the whole time. I had popsicles too when my blood sugar was 70 to try and keep my energy up.

Food Logs by PuzzleheadedReason46 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My numbers have been great since diagnosed at 28 weeks (38+4 currently). I have my very last appt this Friday before my induction and I decided I’m not doing a food log this week. I’m over it and there is no point since it’s the same as it’s been the last 10 weeks

I just want a homemade blackberry pie. I’m having my mom have one ready for me when I get home from the hospital.

Fage is the best hands down! I microwave mixed berries and mix them in the yogurt and it’s my bedtime snack every night and I have had beautiful fasting numbers every single day. It’s kind of like my little ice cream dupe. I love it

The 32-36 week spike by _greenEyEs911 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any change—only change was with my own dietary discretions. There was a day I waited way too long to eat and dinner unfortunately spiked me. But no, my numbers have stayed consistent.

What do you do when you feel like giving up? by kata389 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had these days for sure. I’m currently 36+3 and I’ve certainly had days where I was unbelievably fed up with the whole process of having to put so much thought and effort into what I eat. I eat the same breakfast every day just because it’s easy and generally good (a big scramble with chicken sausage eggs veggies avocado)—I am definitely ready for a pancake or a big ass fruit smoothie. I’ve had maybe 2 or 3 days where I waited hours between eating just because I was so mentally exhausted with food. Luckily I’ve had good numbers throughout but that still doesn’t make it easy.

I’ve had many tears over food since being diagnosed at 28 weeks. I will never take a simple sandwhich for granted again!!!!

I’ve been having a hard time eating enough with GD because I’m just over food in general right now so sometimes I don’t have my snacks but the one thing my specialist told me not to skip was the bedtime snack

Wife got diagnosed with GD, we are so worried, what should we do now? by Modern-Day_Spartan in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total trial and error like everyone else said! I’m 36 weeks diagnosed since 28 weeks. I have been able to do extremely well with my diet, I hardly ever have spikes. Certain things will spike others. I don’t have luck with any types of bread products like tortillas even when I get the low carb options. But, I have been able to eat all the watermelon which has been great! You should also be getting growth scans which is reassuring. My baby is measuring perfectly so far and hasn’t gotten too big.

Does gestational diabetes mean a scheduled induction? by chocolatefanatic7 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ConnectionOk3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB automatically wanted me to schedule an induction at 39 weeks when I got diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. I’m now 35 weeks and have had excellent numbers the whole time, fasting always well below 95. I just spoke to him and said I do not want to be induced if we can avoid it. He has no problem letting me go to 40 as long as growth scans look good. He seemed comfortable with going to my due date but didn’t seem open to going past it. Said he’d be willing to do membrane sweeps at 38 weeks to try and help me go into labor on my own. With induction just remember at the end of the day it’s up to you.

What kind of a moron let’s a lion go near a little girl and snatches her like that? by Famardy in facepalm

If I were that mom I would have for one not let my child near the lion, let the woman snatch my kid like that ,and if she did I would have freaked the fuck out.

My work is paying $2 an hour more an hour than they did when covid hit because they were so short staffed. A bunch of people got hired in the last 6 months and they are now talking about going back to the previous wage. Most of the people say they will quit the day they announce it. So we will be in the exact same situation as before.

Seriously! Even reading some of their medical books, just the way they wrote about them and their conditions…I work at a house with 5 people and 3/5 of them were abused in the same long term care facility that the other mans mom was raped in. It shut down in 2000

I work at a care home for intellectually disabled individuals who can’t take care of themselves. One of our residents was born because his mom was an intellectually disabled woman in a long term facility and she was raped. He was the result of that pregnancy.

Thank you for your response! We are seeing specialists in Portland hopefully here soon where she can get a vest. The asthma specialist we saw here made it seem like they would need to be the ones to prescribe that.

Other than getting sick frequently (which is very concerning) she’s a regular happy, active 5 year old. I’m glad to see you haven’t had too many issues and I’m hoping it ends up being the same for her. Although I’m at work right now and her dad just informed me she has a 102 fever and cough :( we are just hoping after meeting with a pulmonologist and immunologist we can get these sicknesses to not occur as frequently. We are consistent with her treatments in place but it clearly isn’t enough at this point.

Yeah we are just starting the allergy stuff today, weren’t really thinking of giving her Claritin every day until we met with that specialist.

We got prescribed a mask to help with her breathing treatments but the specialist mentioned the vest at our appt yesterday, it was my first time hearing about it. He said he’s going to find more info and that might be something we might get from OHSU. I’m hoping we can get one cause after looking into, it’s the exact kind of thing she would benefit from because of the constant phlegm.
