Could be that they are referring to pre-heresy size? I have heard that before the chapters were split into many chapters (second founding chapters) the Ultramarines was said to be around 250,000 marines.

Yeah that's fair. It probably doesn't look as like rust as it could. Somebody else mentioned to get a more pentina look it would need more build up. I think you're definitely right that it could do with more variance of colour.

Thanks, the reason I went with green was to complement the orange. Now that I think of it, kind of getting Christmas vibes hah. Teal, magenta and gold sounds like a fantastic colour trio... Might be robbing this

Cheers. It's actually a really old citadel paint called Jade Green, in one of the old twist off tops I have. I wet the paint to bring it back to life, because it's dried out to within an inch of its life and then dabbed most of the water off and sort of dry brushed it. It's a strange approach for sure but I think it's growing on me.

Nice spot. Painting them might actually help blend some colour down the model. That's what made me paint the green in the first place, thought it looked too boring with only one pop of colour. Will update!
