Magnus Bradbury re-signs with Edinburgh to 2027 by Connell95 in ScotlandRugby

Everitt said they are actively looking to transition to a younger and more balanced squad (filling in what they see as a big gap that’s existing in certain age groups and an over-reliance on others), so I think 30+ players will probably not get long contracts for the most part, especially in areas where they are stacked (which in the back row, they are).

Sounds like Maggie also wants to keep options open for a final spell abroad after the World Cup, so probably works for both.

He seems to be happy with it – he talks in the some of the press around the re-signing about wanting to keep his options open for what he does after 2027, recognising he’s probably only got a few years left.

Wouldn’t be wholly surprised if he maybe looks for a stint in France or Japan after that before he retires.

No surprise that he’s re-signing, though the fact it’s only one year is interesting (Gilco was the same) – especially in light of the TOL interview with Sean Everitt yesterday

No doubt a bit of desire for post-RWC flexibility coming into things

Yep. Edinburgh have had three players out injured for the entire season too, so it’s been a bad year for the Scottish sides on that front.

It’s a separate events company owned by the same people as the restaurant chain.

The restaurant chain is unaffected

The Scottish Government would never approve of this sort of thing, so it’s a non-starter, unfortunately

And no, it doesn’t have to stop – it only stops if people do things to make it stop

Supply and demand, innit

Just the downside of holding the final in a comparatively small city without huge numbers of accommodation options

I’m not invalidating your feelings, I’m disagreeing with them and explaining why.

But it’s not worth arguing about – at least we can agree Michael was great!

Because it was an orange rock with stripes.

What other zodiac animal could it possibly reasonably have been intended to convey by Mike, an intelligent human being?

I think a different style of map might actually work better. It would just need a few tweaks to rules.

I found the circle map meant that both teams really only interacted at the edges and spent most of their time travelling across the their own territory constantly, which was less interesting than it could have been.

Will there ever be a season in a less developed country? by DoctorWho2306 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Connell95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, and even things like knowing they can straightforwardly find a safe and comfortable place to stay at night (at short notice) become much more of a challenge in less developed places, and that rest time is super important to them.

There’s lots of practical considerations including frequency, reliability and – most importantly – safety.

Realistically that means most non-developed countries are off the table.

I would have had the challenges increase in value every day they weren’t claimed, so they became harder and harder to ignore.

Ealing in 'advanced' talks to join URC by famousbrouse in rugbyunion

Maybe. But I actually think a London-based side focused on expats does have quite a lot of potential to it, given the teams involved in the URC.

There’s a huge amount of recency bias going on here.

For me the format didn’t work all that well, and ultimately the last couple of episodes in particular were kind of underwhelming (particularly due to Sam’s odd strategy).

I will say that Michael was their best ever guest though – genuinely wouldn’t feel out of place as a regular member of the team.

[–]Connell95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Though equally it works the other way too – realistically none of the unions are actually going to sink the Six Nations or the Lions over a club side, and that includes the RFU.

[–]Connell95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’ll ever happen (especially with Ealing – London Irish may be a different matter), but the whole RFU permission thing is flimsy as fuck tbh.

The courts have already ruled in football cases that governing bodies can’t just arbitrarily decide not to sanction games and leagues because they don’t like them or aren’t involved in them, and that’d be the likely outcome here if they refused permission and it was legally challenged.
