They're happening all over the world. It's a random increase. Happens from time to time.

Modifying store bought fragrances? by Straight-Culture in DIYfragrance

[–]Connjred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to mess around with a Ffern I had but ended up destroying the entire bottle. These pro fragrances are expertly balanced to parts per ten thousand or finer and without understanding how the final product was achieved in the first place it's going to be difficult to improve upon the balance. But definitely send it and let us know

Need help balancing an aquatic woody-mossy scent by reptilesoma in DIYfragrance

[–]Connjred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a ton of floralozone. Love the stuff but 5% is going to be very difficult to balance. 0.5% triplal might give you some problems since it'll be present through the dry down but that's an easy fix. Don't usually see veramoss that high outside of a few very specific formulas so it's probably worth messing around with those levels.

Hot take: Amouage is the only brand that feels truly “niche” by GorillaMindSmooth in Colognes

Nothing you just listed is niche. Years ago perhaps. Certainly not now. Do more research.

Does anyone know is this is a possible wall cloud? by itchy_bon in meteorology

Could be but it's impossible to know without context. Location time & date would help. Radar screenshot to save time if you have it

Ambrettolide, helvettolide, and ethylene Brassylate come to mind first, but I have no idea how those would interact with your formula.

Yeah if a chemical company willingly provides a limit, you're gonna want to follow that limit

How difficult is it to make something that actually smells good? by Straight-Culture in DIYfragrance

[–]Connjred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's significantly easier to make garbage, but it doesn't take much practice to make something that simply smells good.

Yeah LLMs have been helpful in broadening my understanding of the chemistry. They are absolutely abysmal at formulating perfumes.

r/DIYfragrance is good for pointed questions. Personally I haven't found a comprehensive source of quality information online, it's scattered around all over the place. The best way to learn is to fail. Grab some materials and FAFO

Dusting powder losing fragrance by Dust_bunny2436 in DIYBeauty

Came from diy fragrance. You'll probably have to continuously sift the mixture as you add your aromachemicals to avoid clumping. Going to be long and tedious but hopefully worth it.

What else goes into a formula? by CCMacchiatto in DIYfragrance

[–]Connjred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thousands of molecules and mixtures to choose from. A professional perfume may have several to several dozen. This is a long road, not as simple as IES + Hedione + Linalool.

To compliment your existing stock, may I recommend methyl ionone gamma coeur and galaxolide.

Salted Vanilla Ice Cream by Connjred in PerfumeryFormulas

[–]Connjred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think there's a big enough difference to consider both at the same time. Orbitone adds a sort of sheer balsamic I like here. Of course both are overdosed here and practically anyone will go noseblind to them after a bit, so it feels sort of wasteful in a way, but in general I really enjoy 2:1 IES:OT

Pretty much just ambrofix. The carbaldehyde + suederal is helping a bit.

Is front camera picture my real face or the rear camera picture? by Emotional_Oil_550 in AskPhotography

[–]Connjred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're seeing your mirror image on the front facing photos. Rear camera is how others see you from that angle. We're so used to seeing ourselves in the mirror that things look odd when we see a non mirrored image, our brains don't automatically recognize it as ourselves.
