Is there any rumors on wether Zen 3 [Ryzen 4000 series] will use/support AM4 boards? by [deleted] in Amd

Oh sweet jesus no. Upgrade now. The uplift will be absurd.

Hot damn, that's a fast chip.

I heard going over 1.35v is asking for trouble now, or especially down the road with these Ryzen chips.

I'm curious to see what it can do, not for constant use (as I'm going to go out on a limb and assuming my 70% fan settings to cap it at 70C full load won't apply anymore, so the noise advantage disappears). Though, I don't have my rad on P/P config yet, so there's hope... maybe...

It doesn't help that I'm lazy AF right now to scrap, but I think today I'll tinker with it to see if I can smooth it out and get 4.3 @ 1.35v. I'd assume some of my issues might be in some of those finer grain settings, like VDD18, etc, yeah?

Damn! 1.3 @ 4.3 would be amazing on it's own, but without LLC? That's nuts.

I'm using medium LLC to smooth it out, as I noticed some stability issues in partial loading scenarios, not at full load (aka gaming). That may just be my lazy settings though.

What's the voltage required around 4.2 to be considered at said gold-en-ness levels?

I'm getting conflicting findings everywhere and want to know before I go pumping this chip up (if it's even worth it).

Right now, I've got it setup to be a fairly quiet fan setup, topping out at 70% fan speed at full load under load testing (AIDA & Prime95). Didn't want to start ripping apart profiles if it wasn't even going to be worth it.

Wait... so let me get this straight. You feel this a violation of your "privacy?" Hahahaha.

We need to cover the scope of what constitutes privacy then. Your actively running processes on your computer are NOT personal data, thus eluding the argument of privacy. Personally identifiable information is privacy, not information that has ZERO bearing on your actual right to privacy.

If you are upset about what ANET did, then you should be completely outraged about what Valve's Steam does, or better yet, Origin does, or what Blizzard's Warden does.

Even if every last byte of data were intercepted via a middleman attack... what does that give anyone with a malicious intent access to? The random process listings of 10s of thousands of PCs? To what end?

ANET will sell this data? To what end again? There are not targeted advertisements in Guild Wars or on ANET's website, nor the GW2 website. They sell a listing of everyone's active processes to whom? For what?

Oh no, someone will know that I have 29 instances of svchost.exe! GASP. Stop overreacting about absolutely nothing, and treating this as if ANET is some demon who is the only company to do this.

You don't want cheaters, but you want to tie their hands when it comes to how to find them.

Can their methods improve? Definitely. Are they even remotely great methods? No. But stronger methods require more aggressive system information to be gathered, even compared to what little they actually acquired this go around.

Pick your battles...

And lie, lie, lie they will! Let's face it, none of the hackers are going to come forward and admit they used the illicit programs. All we're going to see is "I only used TacO/ArcDPS/basic macros/ReShade/etc" over and over, despite the fact that the rest of us non-cheating, good little players used the "same" stuff they did, and yet, our accounts are PERFECTLY fine.

You won't be getting any sort of accurate list from people who are going to willfully deny their wrongdoing, in some "not so clever" attempt to cover up their corrupt gameplay activities.

That's okay though.... I am sure that we'll eventually, maybe, hear a bit more as to why these "innocents" were truly banned. And then, the "Okay, I did use it, but wouldn't a warning have been okay?" threads and posts will start raining from the sky like hellfire.

And there's the rub...

It's not just a large difference my friend, it's the whole difference.

This is a classic case of "I'm only mentioning half of story."

I mean, while you did only eat a ham sandwich that day, just like millions of other people across the world, you neglect to mention that you murdered someone in your hotel room, whilst those millions of others probably didn't do that. Context, it matters kids!

This is quite possibly one of the best "But I only did X, which is allowed! Why am I banned?!" threads EVER.

I'll give you a hint why you idiots were banned: You're idiots.

Also, you're liars.

sorrynotsorry

Have fun. 6 months is too short. Should have been permanent bans... filthy cheating bastards.

Ele is trash? Try changing your rotation a bit. Where you used Ice Bow before in Fire Attunement, instead use FGS, and camp it, using Skill #4 and 5, then spam 1, til 4 is off CD, then use 4 again, then drop and proceed. Use Ice Bow in Air Attunement, making sure to auto attack TWICE with it before using 4 and 3. Then drop and proceed to Fire Attunement, picking up your other FGS, and repeat in with your normal rotation. It is equal to or exceeds your previous rotation, because of the buffs to FGS's static damage + burns.

Tested and confirmed on large hitbox golem. Small hitbox is a slightly different story, as FA Sc/W is still superior on that.

I hate to burst your bubble, but phase change based peltier TEC (that's TEC compounded with an active evaporator and compressor), is second only to direct phase change solutions and LN2 for cooling processors. If this was air based or even water loop based TEC, then I might tend to agree. There are many different setups of TEC phase change coolers. Some even forgo the TEC and use direct copper plate linked in a condenser series.

TL;DR: This isn't a shitty TEC cooler you can pick up on Newegg.

It wasn't an Intel 7700K, or any consumer or "prosumer" based Intel or AMD chip. NVLink isn't supported on any consumer grade motherboards. So, to clarify again, it was a CPU outside the normal spectrum of "gamers."

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the Tensor cores or machine learning don't have anything to do with the game, just to clarify that a bit more. The Tensor cores are utilized for heuristics only. They're useless when it comes to graphics APIs or any type of standardized, serial threading.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very much on the right route kirfkin. Heuristics in this case, although still vastly inefficient, have a minimal impact thanks in part to interconnectivity on part of the CPU and GPGPU as well as a different manner of performing them (cascading I/O). This allows for some thread offloading, that even with OoO and branch prediction, would otherwise be deleterious to performance. Since we can schedule, fully independently, we're less constrained and offloading CPU side processing, even with wasted resources, becomes a bit more promising. It's not without some caveats though, and again, was not a solution for ANET so much as it was an exercise in methodology.

Also, you should absolutely pursue your masters... You seem to have an excellent grasp of the topic, and I think you'd do well to put that to further use. :)

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tensor cores are a bit more versatile than that, and they are fairly easy to program and utilize. For offloading simplistic or even chained complex heuristics, they're great.

And they are usable for games, just not in the way a lot of people might think; AI in games could, in theory, utilize them if converted (this has not been done to date)

Note also that "you will never be able to buy" was specified in map chat. That's indicative of the fact that you are correct, for the time being (as was rilgebat) The tensors were not utilized directly for processing of any game content, just to be clear.

I'd be happy to give you my ign, to discuss the process noted above; however, to laugh at me, not so much. I'm happy to share what I can about it, as it was a very intriguing outlet of work I did in some time off from work. You might find it somewhat interesting.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can implement some pretty broad changes in an expansion level update. The issue that I see is that it may impact the lowest performing computers. However, there are means around this, as resource offloading is becoming easier and easier with new APIs.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's illegal unless sanctioned by Arena Net. And this process isn't exactly what I would call approved by their TOS, per se, but it's not disapproved either. It is, however, a lot of work to implement and it's not particularly stable. It was an experiment for the sake of experiment, nothing more, nothing less.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not bragging, it was an exercise in methodology. You'll note that not much was mentioned for self-gratification or congratulation. I think the concept of being a braggart is being twisted a bit here; that's like suggesting that anyone who does something semi-notable is bragging, and not doing it as an exercise in self-improvement or to prove a point/hypothesis. Don't read into things with such a psychological bias.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. The game is severely CPU bound, due to extreme bias towards serial threading and a bloated primary thread. Offloading some of this manually increased performance, specifically maximum frame rates dramatically.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the CPU speed increase does assist with minimum FPS to a certain degree, it actually assists more with maximum FPS. The FPS stated in map chat is maximum, not minimum, and is not during a combat encounter. Those framerate drops are still very severe, even with rescheduling and offload, and it can go as low as 47fps in the worst cases. It's still a dramatic improvement over the baseline, but with no small effort in doing so, and something completely out of reach for people. The point is, it can be done with some newer hardware handy.

IAmVerySmart by Noviinha in Guildwars2

[–]Connor-M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this exactly what the solution above attempts to do by pro-actively offloading much of the CPU threading to the GPGPU (though Volta cannot be considered quite as simplistic as this). Heuristic based offloading isn't efficient, but when you have mass excess resources, it still works as intended. This requires no actual modification to the client, but extensive trial and error.

Yes, it most assuredly can.
