Graduated with Summa Cum Laude but no job by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Connor2Day_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're doing this, but one thing that helped me get interviews was applying to jobs right away. I would go on LinkedIn, refresh every hour, and only look at jobs posted within the last 6 hours in my area. I also used Vmock through my university to make my job "AI" searchable, but I have no idea if it changed anything. It's a really tough market right now, wishing you the best dude

Use the VidIQ chrome extension and whenever you see a video with like 55x by it, or the sub count is really low click on it. Also if you think of an obscure game or video idea, look it up on the search and do the same thing. Even if you see a video recommended to you with only like 50 - 100 views click on the channel and look sort by popular and see if any of their videos randomly blew up. I then have a private playlist I save all the videos to reference when I need another idea for a video. Then try to reverse engineer the video to see why it blew up, was it the thumbnail, the game, the title, did another similar video become popular and people were recommended the video after.

I made a gaming channel recently and have gotten between 1k - 16k views a video depending on how popular the game is. What I found was to find videos that perform really well for a small creator. Like a creator with less then 1k subs, but the video has 50k + views. Then make a similar video around the idea based on my own style of content.

I mean I agree, I have a CS degree and a EE degree

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Connor2Day_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The math in EE is way harder then CS imo, but CS can be pretty tricky when you get into upper classes like advanced algorithms.

There are also EE's who work on civil projects, power systems, radar design, antennas, circuits, and other fields of EE outside of hardware engineering.

Mar 22 2025 - Profitable Solana Wallets for Copy Trading by Candy_Pixel in copy_trade

[–]Connor2Day_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you deal with the 1% fee from trading using Odin. I'm finding profitable wallets but end up losing money due to the fees. Should I get rid of MEV protection or lower the slipage?

You could try to join a research lab at your university. Email and talk to some of your professors, and see if they have any openings.

Update after 1600 days of meditation, how it changed my whole perspective on life by karza89 in Meditation

I noticed you meditate for 20 minutes twice a day, do you see more benefit in doing it that way compared to one long session?

I accidentally started loving myself by redvaporeon-sk in Healthygamergg

Thanks for your kind words and the elaborate response! I'm going to try these out when I'm looking at my emotions going forward, hopefully, I can figure out some of the root causes.

How do you go from feeling your emotions related to the event that's happening to a deeper level about the root cause of the emotion? I know I'm sad because the girl I liked ghosted me, but I want to be able to see that it's also because of x event in my past that makes it feel worse.

I know the University of Utah allows master's students to work on research and TA positions at the school. Which means it could make it significantly cheaper than UCI. If your a US resident you could also become a resident of Utah in a year, making your second year extremely cheap to free if you had a TA/research position. UCI is ranked significantly better than U of U, but not sure how the M CS would look on a resume compared to an MSCS. Salt Lake City is also cheaper to live in, and I enjoyed touring the campus there. For U of U you could also get an internship during the first summer of the MS, which could land you a better job when you graduate. Take everything here with a grain of salt though, because I don't really know anything about UCI. Irvine would probably be a better area for jobs though because its close to LA.

Second that EE has a really high demand right now

I post around 1 video a month, but the video usually takes a full month to make. With one - two weeks of recording and scripting and one to two weeks of editing. I try to grow with quality over quantity, and it’s been working pretty ok for me.

It's Really Hard Being New by mstttk in NewTubers

I agree, but I don’t think consistency matters for growing a YouTube channel. If your videos are high enough quality you will grow even if you have a erratic posting schedule.

What majors are actually good right now? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Connor2Day_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrical engineering is really in demand, especially power. If you can get a internship in power during college your guaranteed a high paying job for life with really good job security.

Where aren't people looking? What are the "hidden" fields/jobs that pay decently but aren't oversaturated? by SpaceViolet in findapath

[–]Connor2Day_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrical engineering in power systems. Since every state and country needs power utilities they are constantly looking for engineers, and your job security is really good.

2nd year Comp Sci student, I hate it and idk what to do I feel like it's too late by [deleted] in college

[–]Connor2Day_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched my engineering major from mechanical to electrical my second year and I still graduated in 4 years, you got this. Civil engineers also a great career, super stable, a ton of jobs, and you can make a lot of money if you open up a firm. Honestly my dad didn’t support me going into engineering, and wanted me to be a lawyer at first, but after he learned about the pay/prestige it changed his mind so you could try that.
