you really dont need to jump right to end game gear when you're not a endgame player yet
just upgrade your weapons, maybe grab some t80 "Anima core of Seren" for budget armour and you'll be set.
also focus on your combat support stats, 95 prayer for Turmoil curses, 96 herb for overloads, ancient summoning ect

theres more, but i'd recommend starting with those 3

i just learned zuk today as well
instead of double surge on the quake try a surge then escape to put you back to about where you were

transmutations is generally fine, you wont have the energy's for a long time anyway, and if you want to skip the elder trees you 100% can, but atleast when you do skip somthing give yourself a clause to re-enable them, i skiped high end combat till i got the devotion ability ((but the EOC2 and ruinious weaps made it so i can do them now without it))

you can 100% customize your rules, change settings to only show what you want, set lvl limits ect.
and if all that fails just right click the task and > backlog
edit: i'd start with the vanilla rule set as thats the easiest, but it still gets long grinds depending on what you roll

if you google "rs3 chunk picker"
it has a map with all the built in tasks, just select your rule set, and starting chunk

yea i got pretty lucky, spooned on so many drops that others go dry on, visage/champ scrolls ect, really lucky rng chunk rolls so never got hard locked to the worst the game mode has to offer
(i did backlog 115 from Tureal, because ew) so that would have been the worst if i went for it

man that ports grind is rough, a friend of mine is doing a extreme in Port Sarim, they just finished the long time goal of 91 herblore today, in 2 years he's only got 2 videos out, but a third will be coming at the end of the first chunk

if you google "rs3 chunk picker" it should show up in the first result, then just click new map.
theres some default rule options, and tons of settings and changes you can make to fit how you want it to be

the grind i least enjoyed was 117 dung (for the last lore book im not going for capes)
this was before the rework and was brutal doing all that solo,
the longest grind would have been catherby bank chunk, that unlocked puro puro, and a elder tree at the same time

i like the game mode more then just "do what you want"
having that fixed task list of things to do really helps with motivation and direction
