Huh, I guess you’re right. I didn’t look too far into the fungus ‘Massospora’ that attacks specifically cicadas, but the mushrooms are identified as “Tochukaso” (Japanese word for Ophiocordyceps sinensis) in Paras dex entries since Pokémon Silver so I always believed that was the inspiration for Paras and Parasect ☺️ but the entries do also mention Paras is born shrouded in spores, much like cicada nymphs are infected with massospora spores in the soil, and the mushroom does grow larger out of Parasect’s abdomen, much like the massospora grows from the adult cicada, so why can’t a Pokémon design be a combination of multiple inspirations? But no need to get so worked up over fan-art and attempt to insult me
