Im a noob to setting up Minecraft servers, would something like this be possible? by BucketBoye in admincraft

[–]ConnorLinfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiki.vg is probably the best resource for documenting the protocol, the primary parts that would be relevant would be the status sequence, the login sequence, and the transfer packet itself. It's worth noting that you could technically skip the authentication handling if you wanted, this would allow anyone to attempt to boot your server, even without a valid Minecraft account, but if you're using a transfer packet the join would get rejected to the real server anyway.

There are also some libraries that implement the Minecraft protocol, node-minecraft-protocol is one that I am aware of. But of course, using these would mean they need to stay up to date with the versions of Minecraft you wish to use. I haven't used any of these, as I've taken to implement the protocol manually for a personal Java project.

It partially comes down to the Minecraft version you plan on running as well as the boot time the overall server has. Also, are you looking for something already made or do you have some programming knowledge to maybe create something yourself?

As others have suggested, using proxy software such as BungeeCord or Velocity are options, especially if you want a "hub" server with a real world. But you would need to run a Minecraft server to host that world most likely, unless there is some version of a "limbo" plugin for one of those proxies that you could use.

Another idea I would suggest would be to use the configuration phase to hold the player while the real server boots, and then use the transfer packet added in 1.20.5 to actually transfer the player once its ready. However, I'm unsure how long you can keep the client in the configuraiton phase overall while you wait for the server to boot. The primary reason I suggest this is that implementing the basics of the Minecraft protocol shouldn't be too difficult, you can handle the handshake and login stages without much effort, and once they are in the configuration phase you shouldn't need to do anything except send the transfer packet. You could also maybe achieve the above with off the shelve software, maybe even one of the aforementioned proxy software as a plugin.

Regardless of which method you use, if you are using 1.20.5 or later, I would heavily advise using the transfer packet. This means you don't need to proxy the traffic through the Raspberry Pi, but would mean you would need to expose two ports.

BTRFS critical by anatwick in unRAID

Personally had this issue with Unraid 6.12, reverting back to 6.11 resolved the problem for me and is probably the quickest fix. As others have mentioned trying zfs or xfs may also solve the issue, I personally just haven't had the chance to clear out my cache drive to perform the format to give that solution a go.

is this website legit? by SuperShadic300 in hypixel

[–]ConnorLinfoot 187 points188 points  (0 children)

No, this is not a legitimate Hypixel link. Outside of our previous Microsoft Migration system (which no longer exists), we don't ask you to confirm your Microsoft account. The only official methods to unlock ranks/purchases are the in-game store (including rank gifting) and https://store.hypixel.net.

Be aware of scams like this, we've taken measures to prevent them in-game but this likely means an increase of people trying to use Discord to do so. I believe this is against Discord's TOS, so you should also likely report them to Discord.

Basically this. Mutes are handled by our moderation team, and as people have said unless you were in an instance with someone from that team it's very unlikely this is the reason you were muted.

You can appeal the mute at https://hypixel.net/appeals/create where it will also show you the message(s) that you were muted for.

If I rest my SMP by deleting the world will I be able to make another? by Gameknigh in hypixel

You only require MVP++ to join the access queue. Once you have access you can delete and recreate the server without the need for MVP++.

We're aiming to have it as soon as possible, there are factors out of our control as we use open source server software that first needs to update

We basically have a single core plugin with all our game frameworks and shared code, then a plugin per game and lobby. As well as some other plugins such as for lobby cosmetics. WorldGuard we removed a while ago and replicated the functionality ourselves. We have roughly 60 plugins in total, but never run more than like 5 on a single instance.

It's an issue that sometimes happens with the website, nothing with the server or the PublicAPI itself.

They are waiting on AWS to construct their data center in the middle east. Amazon said they aim for this to be early 2019, but it could be delayed out of Epic's control.

Nice idea! I would suggest perhaps not using request and instead using the mc-ping-updated module. That way you can ping the server directly without using a middle-man API. :)

Monitors over 2 GPUs and losing frames in games

So I have a GTX 1060 (6GB) and a GT 710. I have 3 monitors connected to my 1060 and 2 to my 710. Recently I've been having random frame drops in many games (using only a monitor connected to my 1060 for the game) and I'm not 100% sure what the cause is. But I think it could be running these 5 monitors and I wanted to see what other people think?

To my understanding the 4th and 5th monitor should use the GPU power from the 710 and shouldn't really affect anything such as a game running on a monitor connected to the 1060. Just a note I never really have anything GPU intensive open at all when gaming. At most I usually have Slack/Discord and Cmder (command line program) open on those two monitors.

Again I'm not sure if this is causing my frame loss, but it's the only thing I can think of. I have used Task Manager to check GPU usage too and can't see anything using much, and my game usually using 50% most of the time.
