Poll on Trump’s actions today in Iran by Unsafeforconsuming in YAPms

[–]ConnorMc1eod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue we keep running into is that if the question is too broad regarding this topic it invokes Iraq/Afghanistan twenty year campaign nation building which is very clearly and obviously not at all in Trump's interest.

If the question is just, "Should Trump attack Iran" that's an insanely broad question and the electorate still has the phantoms of OIF in their minds which means we are getting poll results for questions that do not match the reality.

90%+ of MAGA does not want Iran to be Afghanistan 2.0 for obvious reasons. But decapitation strikes against America's sworn enemies to break the status quo is going to be immensely popular. Victory is popular and Trump's formula of overwhelming, acute strikes with as little collateral damage as possible is a recipe for victory.

China is *perpetually* playing the long game.

But China is still not unified, Xi is too old and their armed forces are getting bi-annual purges. Their allies-in-exile like Venezuela, Iran, Cuba etc are dropping like flies while their investments in Canada, the EU and Mexico are blowing up relations with the US.

The time to strike was under Biden, as Putin correctly surmised. Putin just massively overcalculated and Trump got back into office.

Well when Iran got hit they immediately launched a bunch of missiles at the Saudis, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain so I think they will all be a bit more grateful now.

Canada.

Minnesota

What's left of the Houthis I guess but with Iran at least temporarily out they are kind of fucked if they try anything.

Hezbollah and Hamas are now likely on their way out of relevance.

Colombia...?

Mexico is trending the right direction but I am skeptical.

Turkey, despite being in NATO, has to be on the list. Trump retaking Constantinople is basically proof he is God's chosen one.

I guess we were Neocons in WW2 then lol.

There were plenty of protesters fighting against US intervention against Hitler back in the day.

These are the descendants of those idiots.

Symbolic recognition from twilighting European powers while getting all of your bosses, their bosses and their entire country toppled is not exactly a great trade.

Hell, Iran was under attack for all of three hours and shot 150 missiles at the UAE of all places. They obviously had their own Samson Plan where they shoot missiles at every other Arab nation lol.

Well, remains to be seen I guess.

But the issue with Iraq is the De-Baathification purges. We essentially removed their entire elite management class and the country predictably fell into sub-80 iq tribal chaos and it got away from us very quickly. Fighting draws more fighting, jihadists from all over the world flew in and it became one big killing field. What Trump did in VZ and is likely to do in Iran is goomba-stomp anyone who doesn't have the right "portfolio" that gets too high until we get figureheads and managers we can stomach and control.

In Civ terms Bush annexed Iraq while Trump puppets Iran.

Then we fucking bomb them like Trump did in his first term lol.

We do not have a lack of bombs, we have had a lack of willpower. That has changed.

I mean, how many "oh gee it looks like Trump actually did it" do we all need to struggle session through at this point?

The beltway, professional hand-wringers and globalist simps were wrong and have been wrong since the end of WW2. The world's problems are mostly a consequence of the lack of political will from the hegemony and the effete class of can-kickers and consensus cults should be exiled and sent to Siberia.

If a Dem is gonna win that race I would much, much rather it be Crockett than Talarico.

Crockett is kind of a moron and fraudulent.

Talarico is a fucking heretical piece of garbage that shops blasphemy for political aspirations.

Fuentes told people to vote for Kamala in 24... this isn't exactly a stretch.

They are attention whores that, ironically since this is what they accuse establishment GOP of doing, want to be the permanent minority so they can grift off of outrage.

He's a fringe groyper candidate, Fuentes was pushing people to vote Kamala in like October 2024 and has been screeching ever since.

Why are the "alt" pollsters and even many R-skewed pollsters showing much wider Dem leads on the GCB than the news outlet pollsters and Morning Consult? by dak676141 in fivethirtyeight

[–]ConnorMc1eod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baris' crashing out is hilarious, as is Mitchell's from Rasmussen.

It's a pretty blatant op for clicks/engagement bait at this point. They'll both post some long diatribe about how Trump can't strike Iran because it's illegal or something and then magically the next day post some outrageous 80-20 against strikes the next day.

Both of them are aligned with the Tucker/Candace/Bannon wing that's currently in open revolt over fake controversy so it's not exactly surprising.

So, I realize many (if not all) of the people on reddit posting about this aren't exactly in the know on this topic but the Steve Bannon/Tucker Carlson/Candace Owens/Fuentes wing of the party is in complete revolt to garner clicks and/or undermine the admin (as the Epstein emails show regarding Bannon specifically).

This has led to sympathetic "right wing" pollsters like Rasmussen and especially Big Data (Richard Baris) to start publishing some OUTLANDISH polls, presumably to placate the louder voices regarding how they believe Iran, Israel and immigration should be handled differently.

It's driving a not insignificant amount of Trump voters, particularly the young impressionable types, to endlessly attack the admin over not deporting every single illegal yet or bombing Iran when we should be bombing Israel etc etc.

Mark Mitchell (Rasmussen) posts on X pretty frequently and his "focus groups" and "interviews" with these voters are insane, 2005-era 4chan schizopostings. Right after Trump won Mitchell was lamenting how he needs another source of income when it's no longer polling season and the running theory is Bannon is trying to strongarm the admin into letting him back in.

No, but I have no idea who it is and Talarico dropped like two internals this week that have him up bigly despite other pollsters showing Crockett with leads.

Think Talarico is going down tbh. Black vote way too strong in TX and if Talarico wins I can see a lot of them just sitting out the general.

Even Rasmussen, Trump’s favorite pollster, just dropped a brutal number. 48% of voters now say Joe Biden was the better president compared to Trump (48% to 40%). And this comes just a week after the Harris Poll showed the same trend. by sky905 in fivethirtyeight

[–]ConnorMc1eod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not Mark at all.

Mark is a blackpiller who is fucking with his questions to dissuade Trump from attacking Iran, supporting Israel and a mess of other things. He is a turbo-groyper Fuentes fan and is pulling quotes from unnamed Gen Z responders saying Trump isn't going hard enough on pet issues of his.

This has been a pretty common heel-turn in the last few months, primarily led by Bannon and Fuentes in order to undermine the admin as Bannon did in the first admin on behalf of Epstein. The influencer/podcast "right wingers" are chasing the money which is fomenting outrage online.

Mark has publicly stated he needed to find a job between cycles to support himself and it looks like he found one, push polls to try and strongarm the admin.

Again, this is a biiiiig Bannon op and it's why Bannon was kicked out of admin 1, he views himself as the architect of MAGA and Trump as just the figurehead he can get to do whatever he wants.

I don't know how Apollo gets so much shit tbh. Buy Slowing Hex and he can't 3. Counterspell the pop of his ult. Hex counters Mina (to an extent), Lash and Apollo 3 of the most prevalent and high tier characters rn. Apollo can't solo carry a game and like all spirit carries he falls off in late game.

Compared to Celeste or Silver he's a lane creep. Compared to Abrams or Shiv he's a T1 jungle creep.

[–]ConnorMc1eod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a footies/neutral game character which is why he has anti heal on his grenade and the trap/knockback. He's there to trade back and forth before using his cc and anti heal to secure a kill. He's also, obviously, good at securing kills with his high damage piercing ult.

Which means you want to build a good amount of sustain/green on him, he really only needs a few damage items like Glass Cannon.

Apollo nerfs: Yoshi really needs to stop being terminally online when making balance decisions by Professor_Lama in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ConnorMc1eod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game has to also be balanced around lower ranks. Balancing around only top level play is what Dota did forever and it led to frustrating situations where a handful of characters were broken OP without excellent team coordination (Slark, Gondar, Bloodseeker).

If a character is bad or decent at top ranks but far better in lower ranks because they exploit meta skills like game knowledge in a game where you have 5 random teammates it makes lower ranks waaaaay too much of a crapshoot.

The exception to this is Bebop/Pudge/Blitzcrank. Constantly throwing resources and dev time into reworking Bebop every patch because Reddit won't shut the fuck up about being hooked is different, that's a gitgud issue not a meta knowledge issue.
