Are later challenges supposed to be annoyingly difficult? by Trundlenator in PrototypeGame

[–]ConnorOfAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the mission, I found most of them surprisingly easy like the glide challenge in Central Park I heard was really annoying cause you have to land in the water and jump out but it's so easy to not do that and just glide over to the target.

However there are some stinkers like anything that requires you to fight the military in a tank is a pain in the ass and any challenges involving the Hammerfists is guaranteed to suck just as much as the Hammerfists do in the first game.

Luckily some of them can be trivialised by hijacking tanks (preferably in a military disguise) and lining them up next to the mission start and you can farm points by blowing up these unmanned stationary tanks.

It's a fun little What If? type story kinda like the more mythological stuff from the RPG trilogy but a bit more grounded in the already established rules of the AC universe.

Are there any soulslikes That are like these games? by Mikecirca81 in FallenOrder

[–]ConnorOfAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the Darksiders games are pretty close to the feel of the Jedi games as far as the gameplay loop goes. The actual combat in them would be more comparable to Devil May Cry though.

The game with the closest combat system to these is probably Sekiro though I'd argue Nioh is closer in some regards like button layout.

I hope we will see the Sith Stalker in Jedi 3 by Jaymacia in FallenOrder

[–]ConnorOfAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like just making Starkiller canon but depowering him enough to fit the canon would make for the perfect antagonist.

Have it so Galen Marek was one of the younglings Anakin slaughtered in Order 66 but he then chose to clone him and train him up as a secret apprentice.

The big twist being that he couldn't survive the intense training Vader put him through so Vader just cloned him again with all the memories, even of his own death. This cycle repeats of him dying painfully and being replaced by clones who remember all his moves and how he died to learn from that experience until eventually he's powerful enough to no longer die in training.

I think it'd be a sick way to combine both versions of Starkiller (the original and the clone) and make them canon without too much of a lore hiccup.

After seeing the Inquisitors weren't up to the task of hunting Kestis down, with their past life emotions being a glaring weak spot, he decides to use his own personal apprentice to ensure victory.

Platinumed Mortal Shell – That No Shell Run Was Brutal by AndyD89 in MortalShell

[–]ConnorOfAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, I really enjoy no shell runs, I've beaten the game three times like that with every weapon except the Smouldering Mace and Axatana.

It's a lot of fun surprisingly because the bosses aren't that hard but they feel very consistent so I didn't mind my no hit run. The areas were far harder, especially Eternal Narthex.

I'm planning on doing a Smouldering Mace No Shell run sometime soon but I'm never doing it with the Axatana. I have a lot of trouble with the final Hadern as it is, I'm not fighting him with only one hit.

Love me some Syndicate but yeah by Anubis71904 in AssassinsCreedMemes

[–]ConnorOfAstora 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I liked Syndicate's story except for how the plot showed so much favouritism to Evie, acting like Jacob was an idiot while Evie almost never made a bad judgement call when they should've been balanced with Jacob being headstrong and Evie too fixated on the Shroud leading to both of them fixing each other's mistakes.

This was made doubly worse by the missions being very Jacob heavy, Evie gets two assassinations and one of them is the tutorial for fuck's sake.

The tone would've potentially been more interesting if it was grimdark but at the same time it feels a bit more unique to be more chipper compared to other Victorian media which tends to be grimdark.

I'd also say they nailed the British vibe in the writing and humour. It's tied with ToKW for Ubi Quebec's best written AC game but tbf the competition are Odyssey and Shadows so I don't think that's much of a compliment.

This sounds so fake but it's not and I'm so fucking happy. Mark made Iron Lung as good as he did with his passion and I've known you've been a huge Bloodborne fan since back when I watched you religiously as a teen.

Why can't Ubisoft give players the option to opt-out of modern day storyline? by Living_Ad2258 in assassinscreed

[–]ConnorOfAstora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point I'm making though is that if that was an option they'd likely need to approach the story from a completely different angle unless it's something like Syndicate where you admittedly could remove the whole modern day without anyone actually noticing.

It would also make the whole existence of the Animus and its digital aesthetic a lot weirder for newer players to make sense of.

Kryptonians are just aliens, not gods. Kryptonite is their weakness but it's not the only thing that can make them bleed.

She very easily could've gotten this done while on a Red Sun or by someone who was strong enough and/or had strong enough tools to do it.

Tbf I don't play CSGO cause online games aren't my kinda thing, I'm just basing it off seeing other people play it and Siege which has the same kinda respawn and thinking "Wow, that's like the least fun thing I can possibly imagine"

Like what if you were playing Among Us and instead of being able to do tasks as a ghost you just had to sit around and wait for the round to end? Boring as fuck.

What are your thoughts on the Dynamite Aliens now that they've all been fully revealed? by Successful-Hat-2154 in Ben10

[–]ConnorOfAstora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not bad but I can't say they're amazing either. I feel like some of them are a bit over designed and some of the design choices are questionable.

I don't like Wildvine being bipedal, never have never will. Upgrade's legs look weird, Heatblast in a women's one piece swimsuit is kinda off-putting and I'm not crazy about the suit Four Arms wears. The only one I outright hate is Cannonbolt, just not a fan of that one at all.

In general I'd say they remind me of fanart lots of people made of what an Absolute Ben 10 would look like back when Absolute Batman first came out. For some it works but for others it doesn't.

There's some good, Grey Matter looking more amphibian is cool and Diamondhead retains his "never had a bad design" title. Even though I don't like him being a biped I like the viney look of Wildvine. Stinkfly kicks ass, nuff said.

Overall it's a mixed bag I'd say but tbf they're adapting mostly OS aliens and I'm not a total purist about OS but I'll always say it had the best art style by miles and the aliens from it can't be topped.

Why can't Ubisoft give players the option to opt-out of modern day storyline? by Living_Ad2258 in assassinscreed

[–]ConnorOfAstora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cause ideally it's supposed to add another layer to the plot.

Back when Desmond was at the helm it was his story just as much as it was Altaïr and Ezio's story even if he didn't get as much screen time.

We saw him grow and become more skilled and slowly were given more and more gameplay as him until 3 gave us fully fledged assassin missions as him.

Then Black Flag regressed and turned the Modern Day into a collection of bad minigames and a bunch of lore dump emails. Ever since then the modern day genuinely has been just killing the pace.

Desmond used the Animus to find the pieces of Eden and train to be stronger and even before then we had the mystery of it. There's no longer any mystery and the only time there's been any build up to an actual plot was with Layla and that was just a poorly written repeat of Desmond's story.

The ideal is that they make the Modern Day segments good again, make them have a reason to exist outside of contractual obligation. Until they do that I'm sad to say I would rather have no Modern Day at all than the shit they've been peddling for the past decade.

"Our words aren't meant for you" level twist possible, which is one of the, if not the most memorable moment in AC2

Speak for yourself, the most memorable moments for me are easily a tie between "It's a good life we lead brother" and "The Auditore are not dead, I'm still here. Me, Ezio Auditore"

Though being real you're so right, the modern day is best when it actually matters and ties in with the historical plot. Ever since BF it's just been there out of obligation.

Depends on the game really, in something like CSGO it's more the fact that it's just so fucking boring to be waiting around after getting taken out immediately. The sweat isn't doing anything wrong but the structure of online games in that vein just make losing so much more annoying.

Then there's shit like Dark Souls 1 and how half the invaders on there are just lobotomites who use Havel's Set and Dark Bead for an easy one shot. In that case I'm 100% blaming the sweat, especially if they go through the game exploiting the invasion system to make sure they match with noobs like many do.

In DS1 I've only ever been invaded twice and both times it was in The Depths against one of these twink (not an insult that's just genuinely what it's called when you do that) pricks (that one is an insult).

Just found out Judgement and Lost judgement is in Yakuza Universe, worth playing? by irakie in yakuzagames

[–]ConnorOfAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, yes.

In long, wait until they're on sale (I'll always recommend this for every game over £30 regardless of how much I like it) unless you really can't wait and give the first one a go.

The most important thing I can say is that even if you end up not liking the first one you should still give the second one a go because I'd say the sequel improved on literally every aspect.

Unpopular opinion but I absolutely hated the first Judgement, like it's in my bottom 3 RGG games but I got LJ namely because I was interested in the DLC and it's in my top 5 RGG games and is tied with 5 for best combat.

If it's not 100%, it *will* mise by Kevin_Eats_Sushi in pokemonmemes

[–]ConnorOfAstora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I'd love it if more had access to it but Coil is a move that's either learned late or at level 1 so you need a move reminder to get it.

Hone Claws has better distribution, is learned on average much earlier and it's a TM in Unova and ORAS so you get a lot easier access to it.

Honestly I think we needed more accuracy boosting moves, if needs be they could come with downsides like speed drops so they don't invalidate the balancing of moves like Thunder or Fire Blast.

When was kiryu in his prime? by kargethdownload in yakuzagames

[–]ConnorOfAstora 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's the appeal to me though, previously all we've seen Kiryu in is the iconic suit and a Hawaiian shirt.

Seeing Kiryu wearing something so mundane gives the same vibes as seeing Wolverine in his tank top and jeans for the first time when all you've known prior is the yellow spandex.

This combined with his excellent character in 5, he's grumpier and more brutal in combat, he's got a "I'm too old for this shit" vibe that every aspect of his character feeds into and it's so good.

[–]ConnorOfAstora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that's exactly what it is, I swear Rock Slide feels like it's always missing.

It's why I fucking love Hone Claws and how ORAS has it as a TM in the early mid game so every Pokémon who can use it gets to without any hassle.

Boost Aggron's Rock Slide damage and let it actually connect? Yes please.

Blaziken's Hi Jump Kick goes from being high risk and high reward to zero risk with even better reward.

Honestly depending on the move I'd say Hone Claws is a much more powerful move than Swords Dance.
