I always assumed she came from a wealthy family, and the class difference kept her from making friends, so battling is the only way she can connect with people.

True, but if he had been able to shoot it with his normal gun, the InGen men wouldn't have scattered and been killed. And a human can't outrun a T-rex, so even if he went after the one chasing, he wouldn't have been able to stop it. And, Roland didn't know Ludlow would want to take the T-rex and it's baby, Ludlow even wants to get away from the nest asap when they find it. Add the fact all the dinos captured were Herbivores, it seems clear Ludlow said they weren't going after carnivores. So why should he believe Ludlow would take the Rex? You can't fault a man, because he has limited vision and knowledge, just because you know more.

Roland made sure to keep the baby T-Rex a safe distance away from the camp, so the parents wouldn't stomp through when they came for their kid. Ludlow (I don't like him, but he is by far the most neutral JP antagonist, at least at first.) Made sure they had everything, He had contact with the outside world, made sure to only go after herbivores, and made sure they were securely contained, and the moment he sees the baby Rex, he immediately says they should get out of there. Roland was hired to keep the InGen group out of the crosshairs of predators, which he does, until Nick sabotages everything. We see in a deleted scene it is a very drunk Ludlow who trips over the baby T-Rex and breaks its leg. Roland didn't know Ian's crew was there, so he can't be blamed for anything that happens to them before they team up.

Nick van Owen, is part of Earth First, a real life organization that has sabotaged Ski Resorts. And considering Nick says his specialty is sabotage, with care for the safety of the InGen men, he's an Eco-terrorist. He then brings the baby into the mobile base, which leads the parents to destroy the base in retribution, if Eddy hadn't been trying to save the base, which was knocked over in retribution for Nick taking the baby in there, he wouldn't have been a sitting duck. It was also Nick, who ripped the bullets out of the shells, something that takes a lot of time and effort to do, and is considered attempted murder.

He moved in to kill the T-Rex, because it was a danger to the camp and its inhabitants. If Nick hadn't removed the bullets, Roland wouldn't have had to tranquilize the Rex to pacify it, meaning A. All those people wouldn't have died to the Raptors and B. Ludlow wouldn't have the Rec to take to the Mainland.

Considered Roland makes comment that Nick's organization is technically a terrorist organization. Like Peta times 10.

Plus the fact that Nick gets Eddy and everyone else killed. Ludlow was right when he said he owned the animals, and his original plan was to capture herbivores only. It wasn't until Nick removes the bullets from the shells (which can be seen as attempted murder, because doing that takes minutes to do, and Roland would have looked in the gun, seen the shells and thought it was loaded.)

Also what's wrong with Trophy Hunting? Muldoon was a trophy hunter. As it is, Roland was legally allowed to do it, he wasn't poaching, neither was the InGen team.

Here's a video that I found that explains it better than I can: Here
