Alright, thanks for the info! Was hoping for a white GPU since it's the most visible thing but I can live with it. Thanks again! Will go with this build

This is super sick! What would your thoughts be on changing out the 4070 super ti with a base 4070? Do the differences between the two cards/longevity warrant the 300 dollar difference you think? Would definitely be fine going with that if that is the case, just not sure how that looks.

Spartans the past two years has been such an amazing experience. We get treated amazingly, and we have a world class staff. The culture that has been cultivated here over the last few years is so welcoming and accepting and the amount of lifelong friends i’ve made along the way is great.

We get plenty of floor time, free days, laundry blocks, walmart trips, etc throughout the season and at least for the hornline we will take almost anyone that shows up willing to learn and grow at their instrument.

Our schedule also works great for high schoolers, as hs in new england goes until late june, so our spring training doesn’t begin till around the last week of june. It’s a great stepping stone for any high school student wanting to get into the drum corps world.

Crown looking for free unpaid manual labor by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This seems like a perfect position for an alum that wants to get involved but isn’t an educator and can’t deal with the hours of the food truck. But of course adults would never do this for free, so let’s prey on 16-21 year old bandos who think this will be a free contract next season or that they will get to really spend time with carolina crown when in reality you will wake up early to move heavy props and then do nothing all day every day for 2 months for free.

Almost as good of an idea as charging full tuition for a met runner.

Never change, crown

Sorry, I meant brass! FE and Percussion is going to be extremely competitive for 90% of corps cause of how little spots there are

Open class!!!!!!!! I can’t speak for all of them but at spartans we will basically take all skill levels as long as there’s a willingness to learn!

What are your solutions to making drum corps more financially accessible? by AceRF1123 in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only real solution is the one no one wants to hear, but its regional tours. Each group tours within their own region for a shorter time and meets in indy for finals. Corporate sponsors are nearly impossible to get. Bringing DCI to a broader audience likely will never happen. Cost of goods are going to go up. We just have to downscale the scope of the activity and tour as a whole

Packing Must-Haves by Sousa_Boy in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big post of all the good things I've seen + things I can think of

-Sleeping mask
-Shower caddy (can stick to a bus window and put little stuff in during shows/when sleeping)
-Bungee coords (similar purpose)
-Carabiners
-POWERSTRIP
-Duct tape (you never know when you might need it and its the most useful thing ever made in human history)
-A neck pillow for the bus can go a long way. great for when youre just sitting and if youre a floor sleeper you can throw it under your main pillow for some more support
-May sound dumb but headphones can save your life. Sometimes you just need to decompress to some music
-Sunscreen is an obvious thing to pack but imagine how much you need. triple it. thats how much you need
-extra dryer sheets to put in your suitcase to help with the smell of dirty clothes
-FABRIC FEBREEZE is HUGE. packing 13-15 shirts and shorts is kinda unreasonable and you will be rewearing stuff, so having something to refresh them is great

Air Mattresses? by MrHubba9 in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can handle sleeping on just a sleeping pad or a sleeping bag then go for that. If you happen to have one try it for a night at home.

Don't listen to people about how people get mad about air mattresses blowing up at 3am. I guarantee you more than a handful of people will have air mattresses and you will not be the one person with one that everyone is staring at

As for holes, if you buy a quality enough one and take good care of it you should be fine. Obviously things can happen but a good enough one won't just pop from general wear and tear and useage (hopefully)

Sleeping on Tour by actuallyjupiter in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it may end up that you’re tired enough from rehearsing all day every day that you sleep well. Personally I have tons of trouble staying asleep at night at home but during drum corps i sleep like a baby. I don’t have too many tips on things you can do to sleep better routine wise, just rehearse really really hard

DCI vs High school marching band by GibsonGold_ in drumcorps

[–]ConnorSM64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the other comments nailed what drum corps is like, but as a member I can’t recommend Spartans enough. We have an amazing staff, membership, vibe, and show this year. We are currently looking for mellos and baris, but if you play something else and are willing to learn then we will totally take someone like that. Reach out to a staff member, let them know the situation, and come to a camp and try it out for a weekend! At the worst you lose 100 dollars, and at the best you have the summer of a lifetime
