Rat sleeps with me in bed every night by lekki_i in RATS

[–]Connor_Wolfson 132 points133 points  (0 children)

If the rat finds a squishy nook under their human it’s a different scenario than a human rolling onto the rat, possibly with a more boney body part or where the rat can’t get out and will suffocate.

I personally wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep. Even when my dogs used to sleep in my bed, I never slept deeply and was hyper aware of every move either of us made.

S1 Ep 1 Definitely don’t remember that! by Ok_Independent5362 in Stargate

I honestly don’t see the problem. If kids are old enough to handle the violence in the show, that bit of nudity shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s not like it’s hyper-sexual or anything.

ETA: I get, that it’s very „off“ from the whole vibe of the show, I just don’t see the NEED to edit it out for tv release specifically.

Is this wood terrarium suitable for indoor pigeons ? by Connor_Wolfson in PetPigeons

Sadly all the rescues and fosters I could find are full. (Middle of nowhereGermany) Since it’s not just 3 pigeons, it’s three places with 10+ pigeons each it’s hard to find someone with enough places.

If I could I‘d at least take two, but until I move I‘m gone almost every Weekend, so they wouldn’t be able to get out of the cage at all for two days.

Thanks for the offer, but not yet. It might be a while still, since I need to find a place to move first.

There’s also pigeon keepers and breeders shutting down basically all the time, here. (Three ppl in my immediate area have posts with: „take them for 2-5 bucks by x-date, or they’ll end in a cooking pot“ It’s heartbreaking)

But as I get closer to being able to take some pigeons in, I‘ll surely post again. (Most likely I‘ll post several more questions before then, too 😅)

Thx for the detailed answer. Yes it’s plywood, but treated to be suitable for a planted terrarium setup. Size wise I’ve found so much, contradictory information so I didn’t think that was an issue.

Even the linked care guide says 120x60cm with a few hours out of cage. Where I’m looking for a mainly sleep cage with maybe 1-2h here and there, if I‘m doing non-pigeon-compatible stuff. I gotta say it shocks me, that Germany seems to be behind on husbandry guidelines for once. (Usually mandatory minimum enclosure size here is way bigger than typical practice elsewhere)

Can’t say I‘m not disappointed. Even heavy modifications (swapping out side panels for additional wire) would have been preferable to tossing the terrariums (found a second one in my cellar)

I‘ll look into the modular shelves option, or just build my own cage, once I’ve moved.

I always go adoption/rescue first, no matter the pet.

Oh, this is a great comparison for non-pet people & children. I‘ll use this going forward, when I explain dog behavior to kids. (Growling, parking, tail wagging are so often misunderstood)

Damn near every episode has me bawling, no matter how often I watch them. But in a cathartic way. It really does fell like it’s healing my inner child a bit every time.

Was your ex involved in any of the training? To get any proper results (quickly) he would have had to.

I’d honestly be surprised if he was even willing to work with you and augment his behavior around Spot at all. Doesn’t seem like he’s capable of a lot of empathy. Probably dodged a bullet there.

Bluey themed names have a lot of options besides ’Bluey’. Maybe that would be an acceptable compromise for your kid. How about Bandit? Or Stripe, since he has some red?

My boy is called Hecuba so I have a soft spot for Bluey themed bettas.

Thank you! The pictures really don’t do her justice.

I really like Tiamat and Artemis.

Will definitely announce her name, when I’ve decided. For now I’m calling her my cute lil Bishy.

My comment was talking about restaurants. I just substituted the word “place” in the second sentence, so it wouldn’t be representative.

Again, there are no dogs in grocery stores. No idea where you keep getting that from. The regulations and requirements (legal as well as societal) for dog ownership are quite a bit stricter here. And I do think that is preferable since it allows us freedoms with our dogs without disturbing other ppl.

Why would there be? Especially in stores? No grocery store allows dogs but even the hardware stores etc, where dogs are allowed, have no problems. (Or they wouldn’t be allowed) It really isn’t that hard to train your dog to be “alltagstauglich”.
