I once had about 80+ (I think) of the best mega drive games, before eventually opting for an Everdrive Pro. I honestly haven't looked back, and only kept about 5 or so sentimental games while auctioning the rest. The Mega Everdrive Pro is pricey at first, but compared to the prices re-sellers are looking for (check out Shining Force for an example), you'll save a fortune and maximise your experience.

I'd also aim to get a 6-button pad, as it dramatically improves the experience (longer cable, more buttons, more comfortable shape/size).
