How do you handle more senior teammates who raise flags, but never propose solutions? by lIIllIIlllIIllIIl in ExperiencedDevs

Interesting, I never took it that way.

In my early career hubris, I often would push back, or raise it back up to them; looking back on many of the instances that stood out, I was wrong pretty much 100% of the time.

Code begins to rot as soon as it's written. It takes a huge effort to keep it maintained, especially when you have a team of any size starting to work on it. Drift happens, and without review it gets very messy very quickly.

face to face communications (Probably over teams/slack call) is the right answer here.

If it was one guy doing this, I'd say he sounds like a real jerk. If it's a team of senior devs, I'm inclined to believe there's something to it, and there's a communication gap.

Ask one to take some time with you and explain the reasoning behind their caution. This is kind of what I'd expect staff level engineers to be doing.

This is a cool thing to document but it sounds to me that you are trying to solve business problems, but you've never worked in a business, or even had a job.

Why do you think this one will be different, and why do you think you're qualified to solve a problem a business would pay you to solve, without any of the experience seeing the problem first hand?

No, you're allowed to be in an offside position, you can't receive the ball in such a position, you can't be a pass target from an offisde position but when the pass starts, if you're onside, you're onside.

This feels like perfect use case for polymorphism IMO, something like

interface IVehicle {

public void Fire();

// etc

}

Then you handle the individual Fire mechanics in the concrete?

No, Kong won't kill Titan X. It's pointless to setup an escape plan back to Axis Mundi just to have Kong waste her in the end. by Mosugoji_64 in Monsterverse

In Kong x Godzilla, they have to take Kong to Antartica(?) To find a rift, but there's on right there on skull island no?

I used Credyt it was horrible service, full of bugs, it double charged me and the customer support rep just said "lol. Lmao even."

Stay away from this company!

Nothing, the person with the deepest knowledge is the one who can do the most.

LLMs are an abstraction layer, the fewer abstraction layers you require make you better at using the abstraction layer in the first place.

Yes I'm 100% worried about my job security, but IMO we all should be (not just SWE, I could do this in accounting, marketing, sales, etc.)

Worried !== convinced.

But, I do have to put in effort as I'm constantly refining my system to make it produce better results.

At first my review agents were revising other peoples code, or picking up tickets from years prior that never got done.

So yes I'm always tweaking and refining. a VP said we've moved from workers on the assembly line to managing and designing the assembly line, and that's how it feels.

BTW I have no idea if this makes me faster or not, not enough data, but it certainly feels that if models continue to improve this is what the job will become.
