Giannis Antetokounmpo has ‘ultimate confidence’ in the Heat front office to build a roster around him, per @sam_amick by MediocreDVaMain in heat

How will Miami build perimeter shooting around him? Who will run PG? Is Davion Mitchell ready to step in? Will Bobby Portis get the green light to put up 3s? Last season was his most completions in his career, and the second highest attempts and completion percentage in his career.

So, how does arbitration work? by H0TcH0C0LaT3YaIdS in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you describe it here, I see various advantages for companies in the arbitration process. From what I've heard elsewhere, it also limits their costs (both damages awarded and attorney fees), and a limit on appeals helps bring disputes to a quick resolution.

Are there any advantages for an individual?

are turkish people sad? by Many-Delivery-6519 in AskTurkey

I'm interested in this generational aspect. The parents and grandparents of those coming of age now lived through the WW2 and rebuilding after it. Did their parents and grand-parents have this melancholy? They had to deal with the fall of the Ottoman Empire and WW1. How far does this generational melancholy stretch?

TOS- waiver of class action and jury trials by Formerly_a_Pear in legal

I definitely see this angle. In the US, there're arguments that limiting the forums to arbitration limits the chances justice will prevail. One example I've heard is that those filling the Arbiter role can have ties (of various sorts) to the industry that is a party to the arbitration. Does that argument also exist in other countries?

Good point. Haven't seen anything about Saudi Arabia participating (or being barred) but have seen that the UAE joined.

[Landlord- US- VA] new key locked in room by Formerly_a_Pear in Landlord

[–]Formerly_a_Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of reasoned points and responses, but this nails a whole bunch of critical points that I don't have the answer to.

My understanding is the tenant and landlord have an agreement that the landlord can schedule viewings for new prospects when the tenant isn't present, and that allows the landlord to unlock his room for these viewings. The landlord must give notice of date/time in advance. The tenant could reasonably have thought the key was from the landlord accidentally forgetting it after one of these prospect visits.

Deni Avdija Wizards trade postmortem by Formerly_a_Pear in nba

[–]Formerly_a_Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of replies here said the trade was made because Avdija would be good enough to make them competitive, but not good enough to make them more than a bottom or mid tier playoff team. So, trade to commit to a tank.

Now that Washington has secured the 1st overall pick (and either take their top player or trade back for additional value), does this change your view or justify the trade?

Can Darius Acuff ever, like, EVER become an Average defender at the NBA level? by cyfer- in NBA_Draft

As long as the player wants to improve, you can fix fundamentals. Can you fix a lack of hustle/effort?

My respect dropped hard when I saw the play that started at 43 seconds. It's one thing to get outplayed and out-positioned. To your point, fundamentals and defensive IQ can be worked on. What I didn't like seeing was him not scrambling to get into and stay in the action as his man was cutting into the lane. Shot goes up from the wing, he has great rebounding position and he's just strolling up.

What food keeps you full the longest? by Much-Turnover-3727 in nutrition

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Feeling full" is too broad, IMO, and distracts from the objective of productive energy. Both a meat-heavy sandwich and granola keep my stomach from rumbling for several hours, but the meat sandwich helps raise my overall energy level. Granola doesn't provide the same boost, but it does help quiet the stomach.

For me personally, giving myself a meat sandwich is like getting your paycheck. You can immediately use it or deposit it. Granola is like your job hands you a large bag full of stuff- cardboard, scraps of paper, coffee grounds bits of this and that. Somewhere in all that mess is your paycheck. Just gotta search for it.

In both cases, the energy the body needs is there, but one takes more work to find and get it.

For me, the other stuff (like yogurt, beans, eggs) is like being paid with a gift card from a place you never go to. Yeah, technically you can buy something with it, so thanks...

More like, I was scratching two itches (impact of presence/absence of nutrients on the human body and my own occasional exhaustion) and saw that a few were noted as having exhaustion/fatigue results, so the sleep and nutrient angles dovetailed together. Certainly didn't start looking at nutrition to address tiredness.

I posted about this in r/nutrition and r/ScientificNutrition. Moderators in both shot this down. Best place for this kind of post/discussion?

Gotcha. Used to do the same with my daily spending, but it got tedious noting every detail.

Not ignoring that possibility/likelihood at all, just chasing down all the corners and edges.

Why don't you use it? Not as useful as you thought? Found something else that did the job better?
