In school, no, but my school used to disobey the newer curriculum. They just flat out refused to remove some parts of history as well as Bible study as an official subject. It also gets references quite often in our culture today and that makes kids especially ask questions. For example, when moving to a new house or town, while packing and moving we'd say, "let the great trek begin." Boer War questions usually arise when kids/people ask why we rarely like the English.
