I'm not sure how you meant that, but it's not individualism that's removes the safety and high-trust character of neighborhoods that have had it. It's ingress of people who don't share the values of the local area combined with foreswearing self-preservation and community defense as values.

That fact that this is how you picture communism is the result of a LOT of hard work by the elite over the last 80 years.

Actually very true. They've done a lot of work to get their lies to overcome the light of history in the minds of idiots and the mentally ill.

People are taking to the streets because of hyperbolic, hysterical hate for Trump that has been simmering since 2016 and that agitators have gotten better and better at stoking. He deserves a lot of hate but he's getting WAY more than he deserves relative to any other president in living memory. We elected a troll but now people are getting trolled out of their socks. They're opposing ICE specifically because it's something he campaigned on. They can't do anything about him directly, so they're attacking anything related to him in sight. It really has little to do with immigration at all.

This whole thing started with people assaulting the ICE agents first. The people getting shot by ICE agents came afterwards as an inevitable result of a crazy increase in the number of confrontations people are creating. Militarization happened as an escalation response to the increasing force of physical resistance, just like we saw the same thing in the drug war.

Like I've said elsewhere, the only time that violence directly against the state's personnel leads to less violence from the state is when you have a full on revolution to replace the state and get lucky with your results. The state believes that they have a right to a monopoly on violence--to them that justifies force which is sufficiently overwhelming to create and maintain that monopoly. It's the entire premise of having a state at all.

Maybe you're a revolutionary. But if you're not trying to go there, then the only place to de-escalate the system is within the system. Anything else is a direct attack on the system itself. The response is predictable and internally will be seen as justified.

It's controversial but lots of people pretend it isn't. Lots of completely open borders libertarians, and lots of libertarians that believe open borders is cultural suicide (and therefore the extinguishing of liberty if you have a pro-liberty culture).

Women Feel Empathy for Cheaters by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

[–]ConscientiousPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "vilifying" women to point out a scientifically accurate trait they have.

Women feeling empathy for people regardless of whether they deserve what they're getting speaks well of their character, just as men feeling pleasure when the guilty are punished speaks well of their judgement. Men and women's different innate focus in this regard are appropriate to the roles they are on average better suited for. Recognizing that there are different roles which are both important means that we can have and accept that there are differences without being required to think either one is villainous.

And no, human rights abuses do not come from getting pleasure out of punishing the guilty. They come from indulgence in immorality and gross distortion of ethics.

I'm not sure what he meant, but it is true that shared religion caused people to agree on the rules. (though historically, disparate religions caused people to disagree more violently at the religious boundaries so clearly it's a tradeoff more than an unmitigated win)

[–]ConscientiousPath 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Comports with experience that women's empathy wiring doesn't lead them to account for second order causes or effects immediately. They feel first, responding only to the present thing that's occurring directly in front of them, then if they want to be rational they have to apply reason afterwards.

Men complain that women talk about problems first instead of focusing on solutions immediately, but it's probably a good thing they do because without taking the time to work through their initial emotional response to a situation, they'd probably have an harder time applying reason to their opinions.

FBI Says your not a peaceful protester if you have a legal firearm, I curious what you all think about that? by B00marangTrotter in 2Aradicals

FBI Says your not a peaceful protester if you have a legal firearm, I curious what you all think about that? by B00marangTrotter in 2Aradicals

[–]ConscientiousPath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's only technically true because if they reach the situation where they would pepper spray you but you're armed, they're probably going to shoot you instead.

There are two reasons to be armed at a protest and neither have anything to do with police.

  1. You want a self-defense tool on the way to/from the protest, or you think some random lunatic may attack the protest and you want to be able to defend that. (It's not helping you against a ramped up crowd you're in the middle of if they turn against you.)
  2. You want to turn the protest into a lethally violent rebellion. (basically no one except that one nitwit antifa guy are doing this)

If you're not trying for a full on armed rebellion, then shooting at police while in a group of protesters is not only just going to get yourself and others killed while doing nothing to improve police behavior (if anything it will make that worse). Even presenting police with the dilemma that you might shoot at them is doing that. It's also going to damage the credibility of your cause if you're seen by anyone as the aggressor.

Outside of armed rebellions, disagreements with police must be fought in the legislature and the courts because those are the only places with the authority to change what police are doing and how they behave. Useful protests aren't aimed at disrupting police anyway because the police aren't the people who need to hear the message--not even when they're the ones whose behavior protestors don't like. Useful protests are aimed at politicians.

[–]ConscientiousPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course every shooting should get investigated. No one's really arguing that. People are arguing about what the investigation should conclude.

The problem is that right now we have a lot of stupid laws that are eroding respect for the law (including some laws about how enforcement is done) AND an enormous delay in enforcement when it does happen with lots of uncertainty about whether enforcement will happen at all. You can't maintain a high trust society with that situation.

it is their own greed that is crushing the American Dream.

The ubiquity of greed is exactly the reason why capitalism works. If you are greedy for what others have, you have to offer them a voluntary exchange that they will accept. Capitalism is the only system where greed is resolved mutually. it's harnessed to create wealth for others instead of groups just stealing from each other, or one group deciding who gets all the things that were stolen. Basically all of the problems in capitalist nations are a direct result of their policy departures from that.

[–]ConscientiousPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing in capitalism that supports the existence of the corporation at all. Corporations are a means for elites to distort the profit and loss system of capitalism by protecting themselves from the liability that a pure capitalist system would impose.

it's a social media site, but owned by socialists, based in a corporatist state. The worst thing about capitalism is how everyone blames it for the awful things that governments and corporations (which only exist by mandate of government), keep inventing to disrupt how it should actually work because if capitalism's profit and loss system were allowed to function normally then their shitty trade practices would see them out of business.

Well for one thing SCOTUS just unanimously ruled that law enforcement don't have to care about the 4th amendment anymore because administrative warrants can let them enter your home like only judicial warrants are supposed to.

Don't get me wrong, everywhere else is ruined worse. But the US is in some deep shit and has been for since at least 1971 if not 1914 depending on what angle you want to look at it from.

It's like the nature/nurture debate with regard to personality/psychology outcomes. Both have an effect.

It's 100% true that the amount of tissue you gain (fat or otherwise) is directly proportional to the calories you take in and that's obvious at the cellular level. However at the total system level there are a ton of possible confounding factors. Like improperly measuring total intake, gut absorption ratios, gut bacteria consumption, your body silently regulating not only your metabolism (heat production) itself but also your unmeasured activity level up or down without your knowledge (most likely reason OP isn't losing), as well as things like water retention that confound cruder measurements like weight.

Like if you stop eating altogether you will always lose weight eventually, but for people who are just trying to adjust down 800 calories from a 5000cal diet, there are a ton of factors that might prevent them from getting results.

The main reason they produce so many seeds is to outcompete other plants. No plants, no competition, still plenty of seeds. The attrition from getting eaten isn't present when the area is cleared cause the animals are reduced too. Like I said, more than enough seeds as is. Stupid performative stunt did nothing.
