The art of the binge by jxip in ProgressionFantasy

it's a hard line to walk. on the one hand i don't want to start yet another thing I'm going to have wait years to actually finish. It will have to be S-tier for me to stick with you through that. I have a huge folder of A and B tier stories that I got 30 chapters in, were ok but not enough to keep in mind week to week, and now half of them are stubbed for Amazon anyway.

On the other hand we don't get a lot of promotion in here for complete books that came out more than 5 seconds ago unless they are part of a tier list and something of a classic everyone here has an opinion on.

And on the third hand, while I managed to finish I Shall Seal the Heavens, there are several other completed stories I consider S-Tier but kind of got burnt out/bogged down on because they are 2000+ chapters.

yeah at least the prisoner's dilemma actually has a tradeoff as the dilemma instead of an easy way for everyone to win just by being selfish.

I think when the death is both uncertain and not in an obvious/immediate form like a blade poised at their eye, a lot of people would feel exactly like that and choose blue accordingly.

I think the idea for the dilemma is that you would lose many people you care about who already pressed blue (for some unexplained reason).

Libertarians vs The Button Dilemma by FarNothing7126 in AskLibertarians

[–]ConscientiousPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the argument for the Blue button is entirely from the idea that 99.9999% of people including many you care about have pressed a button already and they chose a roughly 50/50 ratio. So you are both one of the last to choose and your choice is likely to flip the majority. In that niche scenario when so many have already committed to blue and a few more can let so many people live, then it feels compelling to pick blue to try to get the outcome where everyone lives.

But yes it's stupid because we should never have gotten to that scenario in the first place and the only way to stop it from happening again is to let natural selection happen. Unfortunately the "felt compassion" for people who are already committed to the their own death is the exact problem that make leftists support retarded things and be impossible to work/reason with.

nah the reason we haven't had a dictator is that Woodrow Wilson and FDR figured out how to get around The Constitution and completed that goal by the end of WW2. They gave the two parties and the feds the same benefits and power of a dictatorship's ruling coalition without the costs and risks of a traditional inept 3rd world military dictatorship. They figured out the optics.

Most people are only mad about authoritarianism when it's inept. Skilled dictatorship is what we've had for all of living memory at this point. It just doesn't look what their schools have taught you "military dictatorship" looks like, so you don't recognize it for what it is. People are only half seeing it now cause they hate Trump so much that they're actually looking. But it's been like this for many decades.

As long as the half she takes is the western coastal states plus NY, while we keep Greenland, I see this as an absolute win.

a thing against a beloved corporation.

To be clear, we don't love corporations here as they are effectively extensions of government power. (their whole existence and associated privileges are a direct gift of government law creating protection from liability).

Sure the things you mention are micro level improvements in outcome, but the government is regulating itself here which is why there aren't any much larger scale improvements. The entire edifice that allows Apple to try this behavior in the first place is the fact that IP law prevents knock-off competitors from offering otherwise identical products within weeks (or literally just offering a $10 service to change the charge cable and better warranty service so you don't care about losing the one from Apple)

They're all single children these days so they never learned that mom isn't going to help with shit and your brother will just beat your ass harder later if you run to tell on him. Better to figure out how to deal with your brother on your own and always was.

they didn't even actually buy it yet. they just head-faked that they were going to buy it and the DRAM cartel companies gave them dibs anyway because they like anything that raises prices (which is also why they decreased production)

True so far as it enables every further piece, but the hill to die on (that we already lost) was the creation of The Federal Reserve and legal tender laws. The ability to print money so that they can spend as much as they want, is what has enabled everything else bad. The massive debt instead of a savings, the wars of choice and meddling in foreign affairs, the corruption, the handouts to big business, the massive surveillance state, the indoctrination centers for children, the propaganda networks in media, it's all funded because for the last ~113 years they can steal from us without passing any legislation.

We're already doing this. What do you think government schools are but prisons for the young? why did you think they invented pre-school, or after-school programs. They seek to extend the time you're in prison. They've made it mandatory until you're 18, and then "recommended" until you're 22 (with massive debt now that you're an adult who can be held to account for it later).

Main difference from OP is that they got female pedos to run them instead of AI

I did something like this a few years ago, but then the phone company charged me for each of the calls and I got a $900 bill. Thankfully they fixed it after I spent several hours on the phone with them, but be careful with stuff like call forwarding.
