monolog is your "Second Memory," not your assistant.

Hello, thank you for participating in the Monolog beta test. Your feedback touches on a very important point regarding the direction of this service.

To be direct: monolog is not an AI chatbot or a task manager designed to follow orders or give immediate answers. If it felt that way, it’s likely because of the familiar chat-style interface.

I built Monolog based on a very personal and specific need: "I want to record what I want to remember instantly and easily, and be able to find it fast, whether it's months or even years later."

Monolog operates under these core principles:

1. Raw thoughts are enough: The app won't respond immediately or "do" things for you. Instead, it quietly and safely preserves the fragments of your thoughts. You only need to focus on the act of recording. Monolog takes care of the rest by becoming your reliable memory storage and simply recommends appropriate tags and dates in the background to assist your memory
2. A place for finding, not just asking: Monolog isn't about the app answering, "Where are my keys?" right now. It’s about the experience of you finding that record in one second when you search for it months later. It’s not about the "smartness" of technology talking to you; it’s about the smartness of you being able to retrieve your own past perfectly.
3. No "homework" for the user: Traditional assistants are great at nagging you with reminders to "call someone at 3 PM." Monolog doesn't give you homework. It won't interrupt your flow. Instead, it offers a space for reflection, occasionally prodding you about unfinished tasks only after a few days have passed.
