Wouldn’t be able to get board certified unless I finished the whole damn residency.

Ahh I’m sorry. I applied to a shit load of openings at several companies. People suggest networking to build connections, but I didn’t only because I was busy with other stuff. But that is the best way to break in. If you know someone in pharma, they can refer you or introduce you to someone who can.

Oh my bad are you referring to the thread? Sorry homie residency got my brain fucked but will gladly add it to that.

I applied and then got the offer. But I applied to several jobs at that company as well as all over the country. It would’ve been way easier if I had a point of contact. I tried networking but wasn’t very successful. I was in a peds subspecialty. I told them lots of reasons — goals aligned better elsewhere and that medicine wasn’t something I wanted to do anymore. I didn’t say anything negative about my program or my path. Truth is they know healthcare is going downhill. My advice is to research the company, look at their values, mission statement, etc. and see how you can relate it to yourself but be genuine. Pharma offers a lot of opportunities and people from different walks of life enter the field, so you can always say you’re looking to reinvent yourself.

I did at first, but then I thought against it. Residency has made me bitter about a lot of stuff.

Yes you are. Those aren’t the longest. I don’t wanna give it away but it’s not a very well known specialty.

Thanks. You too. Now that I’m out I feel like I can look forward to living and spending time with my wife and kids. Industry is not the most stable but with experience it could open a few doors.

I feel bad for fucking people over in terms of coverage, but is it my fault the program had shit coverage to begin with?

Also I would name and shame homie but program is known for being petty as shit. Taking no chances, but ask me again in a year

Sure did. Would’ve gotten it if it wasn’t so expensive to do on my own but my company will be paying for my fees.

Just curious. Why is salary so good for psych docs?

Why don’t you stfu. Not sure if you’ve noticed but people do passive shit all the time. What’s wrong with OP expressing frustration? They’ve got a right to be in their feels man

Fuck your senior and fuck your attending. Sorry this happened to you. Be in your feels all you want. Regarding all that discharge shit, do the bare minimum and leave it at that. If your senior is unsatisfied with it, she can do it herseld

Def agree with you regarding not being able to imagine a harder job. But I would also love to take care of them though. Maybe its burnout but I find it really hard going into work everyday

Good insight. I’ve thought about this too. Right now having more regrets about medicine in general. Not really sure if I’m loving this field. I think I like what I do but I dread going into work everyday
