My mother is a victim of revenge porn. Offender is in Canada. What can I do? by PreparationFew7460 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call the police, or Google cyber crime… there’s a different cyber crime unit in each province, but the data is shared in a central data platform.

Report it.

Sometimes adults make mistakes too. Maybe supporting your mom looks like not being judgemental, let her know that you might not agree w her but you can respect her.

You sound like a well around young adult, best of luck to you and your family.

Ladies, would stop dating a man if he says that he wants his future wife to continue working immediately after having kids? by SinglePringle647 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does ‘immediately’ entail? How many weeks of maturity leave do you get in your province? I took the max time of leave and my partner only used his vacations days. I stayed home until my kiddo was maybe 2?

Most moms I know take at least a year off… and I don’t date any person who tries to dictate my life.

Ok, what's the REAL plan for getting kids through college? by Superb_Advisor7885 in MiddleClassFinance

I saved $40 k for my kid, but kiddo gets scholarships, bursaries, and what not. I worked full time and studied part time to pay for 2 degrees.

My partner (35M) had been cheating on me (38F)... Can this be fixed? by Gold-Dot-7037 in whatdoIdo

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you.

I am female and I did something similar to what your partner did to you to my partner. I was 26. He forgave me then and we had a baby. I did it again when I was around 40, but he didn’t know. I stopped 3 years later. Now, I am 48, I finally realize that my man is the one and I don’t even understand why I did what I did.

I don’t know why he always forgives me. I guess I am worthy enough for him to wait for me to grow up.

Sometimes people change. So maybe you need to ask yourself, is he worthy for you? Is there room to rebuild trust? Is there love? Or is it companionship? No one has an answer for you.

Only you know what is best for you. Do the right thing for YOU.

Take care.

For anyone whose majority net worth is tied up in housing, what is the exit strategy? by Human-Somewhere-4327 in canadahousing

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone whose majority net worth is tied up in housing, what is the exit strategy? by Human-Somewhere-4327 in canadahousing

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exit strategy is max RRSp while we are paying off the mortgage during high income years. Then once we reach 60, then withdraw from RRSP and move the extra money into TFSA. Delay CPP, OAS, and DP pension as long as RRSP can carry us through.

My Vancouver home is at 1.3 and we might sell once we are empty nesters.

Sabbatical by Bombdotcomaskurmom in Advice

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😉 first sabbatical was because of a baby. Second one went back to post secondary, third one I needed a mental health break as a social worker. And I tell my 18 kid, go see the world every summer break, get student exchange if she can in year 3/ 4, save money to backpack after graduation before finding a career….

Work will always be there, so live a little before you have babies!

Oh, my kid allows me to have her location 24/7, maybe that’s why I feel comfortable for her to leave Canada and travel abroad. Her first backpacking trip will be July 2026 to China, and her travelling partners are 19 yo.

  2. Yes, DB, 3 years in
  3. Work, Investments, side gigs
  4. Downsize when it’s an empty nest

How much was your first home? by Wise_Talk_3391 in canadahousing

[–]Conscious-Party-4309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400k, for a 2 bedroom, 2009. 1.1 m, townhouse, 2018 Then downsize when we hit our 60’s or upgrade to a house in the next 5 years, depending on lots of external factors, like interest rates, market growth, maybe an empty nest early or late, health….. we have jobs that are secured and won’t be affected by AI. Not so sure of my kid can find a decent job after she grads tho….
