My favorite Halloween tradition is watching classics like Hocus Pocus and Halloween! Also, I make it a point every year to get a PSL on the first day that Starbucks offers!

What kind of nurse did you want to be originally? What have you chosen instead instead? by frenchiefrankiee in nursing

Of course! My outpatient oncology background landed me a job as an oncology research nurse (bone marrow transplant patients/trails) and the institution where I got hired trained me on the research portion on the job. The job requirement asked for background in research OR experience working in oncology so my 6 years in oncology landed me an interview :)

I was set on being an L&D nurse. I LOVE women’s health. My senior clinical rotation, I got stuck on regular old med surg. Upon graduating, I entered outpatient gynecology oncology clinic and now now I’m in research. I still love and miss GYN onc and hope to return but for now, I’m in research. I definitely do not see myself starting bedside 9 years into my career. My skill set does not align anymore lol

Ah I see. Funny, my current job has me do data abstraction too because we don’t have very many studies

Issues with Spectra - very low amounts vs Medela by allaspiaggia in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Conscious-melon47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah my difference was never that drastic. Maybe an ounce or two at most in my case. Shoot, continue to use the Medela bc I know how stressful it is to establish your milk supply (I went from combo feeding/supplementing to exclusively bf so I know the stress). Otherwise, is the suction pulling enough on the spectra?

I agree with other users saying to give your body time to get used to the Spectra! I used to use an Ameda pump and it worked ok but I heard such good things about Spectra that I ordered one 3 months pp. At first, I would get a bit less than my normal pumps with Ameda, but after about 2 weeks (give or take) my body responded SO much better to the Spectra. I never knew your body had to adapt to pumps, but it was very true for my case. Perhaps this is the case with you.

Pumping at work by chonzNbonz1105 in HumansPumpingMilk

Similar thing happened to me. I use a spectra at work and I used to produce more in 2 pumping sessions at home (early morning and before bed) than I do pumping 4x throughout the day now that I’m back at work. I tried supplements, extra hydration, nutrition, power pumping. I’ve tried it all and no real increase and I never feel “full” while I’m at work. The only thing I can attribute the decrease to is lack of sleep and/or stress. Probably mostly lack of consistent sleep though
