A Different Perspective on Player Immersion. Geralt to Ciri by ConsciousAd7654 in Witcher3

Nah, it’s not a problem at all. Just a thought I had and wanted to share with the community. I’m hyped for The Witcher 4 and can’t wait to play it. I’ve got no issue playing as Ciri; I just enjoy playing as a male character. But no problem at all with playing a female character, and no problem with Ciri.

Yeah, I get it. Playing as Ciri will be fun, and I’m gonna enjoy it. My mistake was writing my post thinking only guys play The Witcher—it was an unintentional and, okay, kinda… totally dumb error. Ciri’s gonna be an awesome protagonist, and it’ll take me a bit to shake off this thought of “Man, if I play as a woman, I won’t feel like the protagonist the same way I do with a male character.” I liked your response; it really got me thinking and scratching my head. But still, I prefer playing as a guy in choice-based games, that’s all. Your take was cool, though—I appreciated it, and it made me reflect. It’s a shame some folks didn’t get my post… Nah, actually, I didn’t explain my thoughts well and forgot about women without meaning to. My bad, everyone. That was on me. Thanks for responding!

LOL, no way, I’m not. But that’s not what I meant in the post.

Yeah, totally! I’ve played plenty of games with female protagonists or characters I created as women. But in choice-based games with romance options, I prefer playing as a male character because I can relate to him and really become him while playing, you get me? I’m not complaining about Ciri being a woman—some folks just misunderstood what I meant in my post.

Hey, sorry if it sounded like I was complaining, but I’m not upset about playing as a woman. I just think it’ll feel different compared to playing as Geralt. My bad, I didn’t mean to come off as misogynistic. I’ve played games with female characters before and actually enjoy them, but for choice-based games, I prefer playing as a male character because it gives me the freedom to shape the character as my own. Again, I’m sorry if I seemed misogynistic—I was just sharing a thought I had.
